@PatrickGrehan is correct, as long as you do not have bar ends you can participate with a Mountain Bike. That's what I did in 2009 I think, I raced my first cx race ever at LICX on my hard tail of the time, and promptly bought a cx bike. So come out and get a feel for CX.

P.S. These are great races for first timers or anyone who hasn't raced cx and wants to give it a try or build confidence before going to the bigger races...

We are doing 90-95% of the setup on Friday. Saturday morning is for taping up the paths that might criss cross the course, and the areas that might have been blown down by the wind over night, so I don't foresee a tremendous amount of work. It's also nice that racing starts at 11:00am which should give us some time. I also have to setup the officials area by the finish since I'm officiating. I might need help dragging the 10x10 tent up there table and chairs, etc. I can let you know after I speak with the RD about what time we think we need to be there in the morning, of course any help is always appreciated.

I may also be able to help on Friday. Let me know what time. 

@DanSztanga The plan is to meet up at Sunken Meadow on Friday starting around 8:00-8:30 am. We plan to work until sundown unless we get things finished up before then but figure between 4-5pm. You are more then welcome to join up anytime. I think it's Parking Lot four. I'll post a map after my two meetings of hell are over.

P.S.: Cell reception in the park is awful.

Good seeing ya on the cross course, Bobby! I think something went screwy with your post though, no pics popped up. 

It was great to see a nice showing of Kissena at Saturday’s Sunken Meadow races. Before the later race, Eloy told me he was racing on fumes. When he passed me with two laps to go I told him that my fumes were envious of his fumes. We ended up 7th and 8th in the 1234 field. Rob also lined up for the race and looked great.,

Work, family and Supercross stress meant that I haven’t trained for the past 4 weeks. I had fun at Rainey Park and Sunken Meadow - and felt that my bike handling was good - unfortunately I just don’t have the legs I did earlier in the season. Too bad because I started Saturday’s race well - taking off with eventual 2nd place Brett Cooper on the first lap. I was passed on the longer uphill section by the eventual winner Jun and third place Masa. At first I thought I could hold their wheel. They pulled away as did the Brands guy on a mountain bike followed by Eamonn and the other Veselka guy and eventually Eloy who had a brilliant battle for 6th with Eamonn.

Times for me to call it a season. I did not go back for Sunday’s race. Spent the day hanging Christmas lights and moving furniture (we are having our floors redone). 

By the way, ex-Kissena Chris Yacks and Dave Sanossian were out for the 11am race with James R., Bobby P., Mark T. and new member Dan S.
I was able to get some on board video of the race, but I had neglected to delete old races so it stopped recording after 25 minutes before Eloy caught me. I would at least liked to get some good pics of him before he passed me.

Most of you didn't miss much for the races yesterday. Very small fields and then the rain/snow.

Saturday was definitely fun! and to echo other comments, awesome to see so many kissenistas at the race.
My top end is all gone, at the start watched Patrick and the Podium ride away, "guess I settle for the second group".
Registration indicated 50 minutes, long could benefit me if I just let the race come to me, eventually making it back to Patrick and then to Eamonn Dougherty, who fought me tooth and nail -- I could gap him thru the flowy sections, but he would fast twitch back to me, and I am pretty sure he came out ahead of the sand pits the 3 laps we rode together. He would cross the line about a wheel length ahead. Kudos to him. I take comfort knowing Eamonn is literally 25 years younger than me, and that the last lap, ending at 59 minutes, was my fastest of the day.
Fun times. Post race coffee and pastries were a highlight. 
If I was smart, I would end my season now, but if the weather is okish I'll give Soltice a shot:

Yes, add the Belgian steps! Wish I was going to be in town end of Dec for the LICX race.

The 29th will be back on the old venue that was used about 4-5 years ago. Right next to Sunken Meadow. So I'm not sure what we will be doing there yet.

I just got word from Greg:

"Got all the OKs needed from the various park offices and we are on for racing at Nissequogue on Sunday December 29. Today I'm working on USAC permits and the bikereg.com posting."

^ is this the one through the KP pysch center? I remember seeing this on a run around 2012 and being so confused. Definitely is a pretty dope venue

Yup, though changes to the grounds now that they have rehabbed the area a bit will limit some of the features that was used back in the day...
