Looks like Cross Bronx -> GWB is the preferred route by Google Maps, That way I can make a stop to pick up @AnthonyOtt on the way since he's a few min out. I think @mugwump might be interested also?

After some on bike advice this morning from @eloy I've registered for the 5s race. 

Okay I'm in on SCCX Men Cat 4 & Men 4/5 Masters 40+.

I snuck onto the podium @ SCCX! It was a super hilly, super fast, very low-tech course which is kinda my bag I think. Ironically, I held onto 3rd because the guy chasing me down slipped up on one of the only slippery off-cambers sections and I didn't. This was my 3rd or 4th race in this NJ series so it was fun to beat some of the guys who have been putting the hurt on me all season. 

I'm also ~officially~ a Cat 4 CXer

Great job again, @RobertMullen! Welcome to the 4's! We had a great Kissena contingent today and next week / Rainey will only continue that trend.

Today was my first race as a 4, definitely was notably faster than the 5's. I came in 13/19 - I battled with the dude who beat me by half a wheel length at Westwood, but I started gaining in the last lap - beat him by 10-15 seconds! 

Was initially regretting wearing just the skinsuit, but with embro - I ended up feeling pretty comfortable! Wasn't my favorite course - could have used a few more technical features, but was all-in-all good!  

Since SCCX was somewhat hilly, it was a good warm-up for Supercross next week

Was wondering what your takes were on this sort of situation- the guy who is predicted to win the 4/5 at supercross day 1 has well over the number of mandatory upgrade points to move from 4 to 3.

Do race promoters typically enforce those kinds of upgrades? 

Sandbaggers suck... but who knows the situation...

Talk to the guy. If you are seeing this in Cross Results, it might not be totally accurate.

I'm not concerned on my end, I'm nowhere near podium territory haha. More so feel bad for those who are just starting out in the 5's. 

I know we are still working off the high from Supercross Cup, and many of you are looking forward to Rainey this weekend, but I'd like to bring attention to a few small CX races on Long Island at Sunken Meadow State Park at the end of the month:

These are small grass roots type races, but still good events to keep your fitness going and extending your cross season... Technically there might be a third one at the end of December, but it's still not official yet.

@RobertPeras and @PatrickGrehan raced last year and if I'm not mistaken, they both enjoyed the races.

I'm 50/50 for Saturday after thanksgiving 

Good chance I might be the only Official for the event... Go figure...

Congrats all. @RobertMullen there is no "sneaking" onto podiums in CX. Unless it's a field of three, wherever you end up, you deserve. That's one of the many things that makes (puts on sunglasses) cyclocross everything you want bike racing to be

Then RI for both days, and Twining Valley to close out the CX season.

I'll be at Rainey and then I signed up for the two LI races. $45 per day for a grassroots vibe is a bit crazy to me, but my mom's never seen a cyclocross race and she lives out east/ is PUMPED that theres a local race.

I did Bishops last year and I was very displeased with the results. I raced two races, and in the first race they didn't even score me even with the camera. My friend went to protest the result since I was busy removing seaweed from all my rotating parts and brakes to get the bike ready for the next race, and they just shoved me in somewhere. If I recall, they never ended up posting any results to USAC or anything. I know I'm being a bit picky but still I pay 40 bucks to race (15/20 for the second race), drive 2+ hours each way, gas tolls, I expect something for my effort... Anyway, just saying... 

I notice that after the Saturday races at Sunken Meadow there is a team relay race. Who wants to give that a shot? Could be fun

You register day of, basically you have to compete in one of the other races to be eligible for the relay.

Hmmm... I'll be on LI that weekend. How bad of an idea is it to try this on my mountain bike having never raced cross before?

Its not a bad idea its a great idea, 

There is usually one or more people at these races on mountain Bikes. It’s a good way to get a feel for cross. I think the only rule is No bar ends. Come on out, it will be fun!
