Headed to Soltice Cross for one last race of my 2019 season.

That lasted about 1500 meters...

The early pre-ride hard frozen turf turned super slippery mud by race time, which got me super excited. I was here last in 2016 with similar slip n slide conditions, and got a great result.

Today I slipped slided right into the ground and right shoulder into a course tape stake. Immediately knew that something was not right, still in the ground, wondering if I had cracked my collarbone. A few seconds later also discovered a very bent derailleur hanger... ugh. Wont even get to finish lap one. An ambulance visit suggested no broken bones, but revealed a very real cut on my right shoulder. Got bandaged, and then some cake to celebrate an otherwise fun and sweet cyclocross season.

Later, would get Brooklyn Pizza with Jess and her sister. Offseason it is.

The CX Hangover will be real tomorrow.

Let's go race bikes and eat all the pizza all the ice cream, but keep it nice

haha thanks, shoulder seems ok from the race. Now the couple of hardcore endos yesterday in Cunningham, those, ouch, not only hurt the shoulder, but my ego, which will never recover in front of Remy and Mark.

The article is ridiculous.

Becca Fahringer first brought this up, btw. She's not totally wrong, but it is much ado about nothing. As it often happens in cross, the rider ahead made a mistake paid by the rider behind. Gage caused Kerry's crash, but what penalty can possibly be had? none of it was intentional.

This is one of the advantages you get by riding in front of someone in cross. It is one of the disadvantages of riding behind someone in cross.

I honestly wish we would have gotten the version of the race where Kerry did not crash. We'll never know, it was early on the race, but up to that point Kerry was in the perfect position to win. 

There’s a pretty good interview with Hecht on the VeloNews podcast today. He seemed upset that his slip up affected someone’s race and mentioned that Kerry gave him a cookie while they were both in doping-control. 

I just rode the venue for LICX #3 today with the RD to get a feel for the course we want to build. Very excited to be back there. Sand haters will rejoice that there is no usable sand, but we have a few other tricks up our sleeves  .

btw go find the Namur race broadcast — nbc sports — races where amazing!!

Be patient! It takes a while.

Worlds course seems kind of technically impoverished relative to something like Louisville... impressive flyovers though!
