Observation deck with a tissue?
Saturday at 10:30 sounds good to me. I'll bring the barriers and some extra cones... Now all we need is tape

Here are two more links with interviews from Adam Myerson. He along with Chris Horner, Jens Voigt and also Lance Armstrong (for very diff't reasons, obviously) are among the few people whose interviews I find interesting and worth the time. I'm sure there are others, but most pro cyclist interviews bore me to tears.

The following link talks about making a mental commitment to training for CX in adverse conditions. While in theory I 100% agree with him, and it almost makes we "want" to go out on a rainy day and train like he suggests. BUT, I, like many NYC apartment dwellers, don't take mucking up our bike lightly because it is so hard for us to clean up afterwords...although on hot summer days any number of fire hydrants are open full blast...

And this clip talks about his coaching company's cross clinic weekend. And it made me think of two things, first how awesome was it that we have two excellent crossers/mentors on our club to organize a free, and relatively convenient cross clinic, and second, how insane it is that I basically limit my crit clinic to one hour of instruction and drills, when it's clear I need more time. But that's an issue I'll have to tackle next year.

Watched them both. Took the Porkchop Express out today in a driving rainstorm for some good times.

I can bring a couple of rolls of caution/barrier tape.  1,000 feet each.
@mperlberg. Can you make it with cones?

I should be in.

To quote "Wayne's World," "GAME ON!"

Gloucester city council approves the park permit! Registration opens tomorrow afternoon.
Like every year I am coming into CX season wishing I had so many, many more hours and months of dedicated skills training under my belt.  I'm putting together a compendium of useful tutorials - here are two - please feel free to post your own.  It would be nice to have a library.  Interesting note; this guy recommends NOT taking a symmetrical corner line but rather cornering as early as possible.

The takeaway for cornering is it depends. I've seen that video before too.

Hey look, Myles gets a nice thank you from the Gloucester organizer...

I should be at Cunningham on Saturday at 10:30. I'll drive from Park Slope if anyone wants a ride. I need to be home by 1:30.
Marty Cross reg opens in 3 mins: https://www.bikereg.com/Net/20215
Where are all the folks headed to the Providence Cross Fest staying? I haven't registered yet... still trying to convince my wife that it'll be a fun weekender... but fingers crossed I'll be there. For what it's worth, the Wyndahm Garden Providence on the East Side is super convenient for getting over to Roger Williams Park, and it's a great neighborhood for food/beer.
@josephmueller I have a bike change for you!!! So does Jim.
@Erika we're staying at Norwood & Broad; looks like it is about a mile from the Course.  Per the Hotlist's reports, this is one of the best shows on the east coast for "stuff to do" for family, friends & SO's.

Just a reminder - tomorrow - 10:30 Cunningham Park (meet on the practice course, not the tennis courts).

We'll be doing some warmup with skills, then race simulation. After, we can hit the trails if you want.

I'm not going to make it. Have fun out there.
 OK, that was fun (ouch).
are we going to Stillwell tomorrow?

I think well go further out to somewhere new. Time is TBA.

Another big group today for race simulation. We setup a course that was about 3:30 in length with a double barrier, a dismount and run-up, and lots of twists similar to Nittany.

Who did we have?

Me
Perlberg
Grehan
Stokes
McLaughlin (on fire today)
Sannossian
Ceasar
Maronilla
Nelson

Charlie LaPunzina stopped by to say hello as we setup.

Two sessions of 30 minutes each, some people did 20minutes. It was hot and muggy. Make that MUGGY. Really good workouts though and man, I'm beat right now.

Clinic on the 14th to work on more skills and get ready for more CX.

Great times today. Last weekend was great to get a re-acquaintance to the cx bike but this weekend really felt like a cx race type effort. Rode the course a few times and then did about 25 minutes the first race and about 15 minutes the second before I had to leave. So happy that cx is a fall sport.
Thanks for setting this up.  Really helped to get into the 'cross mindset.
Sunday trail riding. Easy does it. I'm thinking glacier ridge in farmingville. Exit 63 lie. Then go to blue point brewery for a sample. Its about 15 minutes away from there.

Leave Brooklyn about 830?

I have two in my car. But if anyone else wants to go, pipe up.
Is anyone interested in sharing a ride to whirlybird?? I don't care whether I drive or not, I just would rather not do it alone. I am doing the 4 race, so it goes off at 9.
I'm reg'd for the same race and could use a ride or would be interested in splitting the cost of a rental car. I'm in Greenpoint Brooklyn
Ok Rick... I can come into brooklyn via 278 or the belt. We'll figure it out. we can take my car. I will be coming back pretty soon after the race is over, as it is quite a haul back. let's stay in touch, and firm things up next month.
Thanks David. That sounds great. Will do.
what should my first race of the season be, considering that I'd like to do a race relatively close to NYC and that I don't wanna start in the back at the starting line?
I'm thinking of doing Silk City on Sept 21. It's about 2hrs from the city, near Hartford CT, and the masters and a 3/4 race are at decent times that a day trip is possible. Any interest, info? I'd drive and can take 3 with me.
