On the registration page.
they took it off the registration page.

That happens automatically I think after the appointed time has passed
15 minutes late. Fuck it, class is canceled.
Looks like it's open for reg now.  I'm so pissed I don't want to even register

Blurg...my bikereg login...my computer forgot it as did I. Extra time typing in address info...7:06. 21st position. Boo.
Marc, I see you in the 4/5 race now with only 3 other folks. Pretty sure that's front row.

I'm going to do the 45+ and I'm 10th so probably 2nd row.

Yeah, should be good to go at Granogue. Where I REALLY wanted front row though was at Nittany. Concerned knuckle heads will crash in gravel pit in front of me, roll over me and leave me for dead again.

45+? Yikes, that's going to be a fast race. 3rd or 4th fastest of the day me thinks...

Can't wait to see everyone out there with their knobbies!

The Internet is punishing you for another year of sandbagging. Time to race the 2/3/4.

LOL. Spent all of last year lucky if I was chasing 20th place. Got crushed at a MAC 2/3/4 race even though I "felt" like I had a pretty good ride. 436 crossresults points puts me at the way back of most cat 3 fields. Cross is unforgiving. And everyone else is too fast.

That said, I'm cautiously optimistic for this year. Hoping for consistent top 10s and a couple of top 5s early in the season and upgrade by Rocktober.
Yeah, 45+ is fast but I was happy last year at HPCX to not get lapped by Carl Reglar and ilk. Just like 6 years ago when I was happy not to get lapped in the 4 race.

Just messing with you! Way bigger sandbagging fools out there.
CX Clinic Announcement!

When: Saturday, August 16, 9am
Where - Cunningham Park, Queens (199th St & Union Tpke)
What: CX Clinic - riding around and learning how to corner, shoulder, run, race, ride better.
Why: Because you want to be better before you start to race.

What to bring? CX bike, helmet, food, water bottle (water available across the street near tennis courts), extra tube
a healthy dose of humility if you're new as it takes a leap of faith to leap back on the bike
a sunny disposition as there are no downers in cross

If anyone has barriers (Patrick) you can bring those too.

What we'll do (from 2011 clinic - Ride to MTB trails and cruise around them for a while.
Then to the fields for dismount / remount practice, cornering practice, shouldering and running practice, race strategy discussion, simulated race.)

If someone wants to lead people out there from GAP, they can. I will drive so I can bring cones, repair tools and tubulars to shake down before Nittany)
@eragot if you have room, would love to please drive out with you. I have and can bring barriers.
@eloy - you have one of the spots in the car.

Just in case this got lost in the fray, I'm looking for someone to share rides with to the NJ Cup Series. Anyone interested?
Your organized nature and desire for planning is in direct conflict with the last minute nature of most cyclists. You must be using the horse-showing/racing/jumping part of your brain when you send out such requests. Ask again a week before the event, I bet you'll get some takers.

Heading up to CX practice tonight. I'll leave around 5:45 from the Williamsburg bridge (Brooklyn side) if anyone wants to ride up together. I'm planning on getting there around 6:20ish to ride around and practice before everyone gets there.
Joe,
I can't make it tonight but should be able to next week. I don't know the way so making the trek up there together would be great.
Sounds good Rick. Next week I'll be leaving from the Finical District but we can meet along the way.

It's really easy to get there from manhattan. I usually take the foot bridge over 102st then loop around the road counter clockwise to the fields. From brooklyn it's a little bit more involved but still pretty straightforward.

For you NJ guys, there is a Wednesday cross practice at Holster Park in Clifton NJ. They've been getting 20-25 people. Usually a warm up, some drills, then 2 x 20min simulation races.

Is anybody seriously considering running Chicanes this year in lieu of file treads?

image

I'd run these as clinchers on a backup wheel set, since they are pretty much by definition for firmer course conditions and would be inflated over 35 PSI.
Once CX season starts I fail to acknowledge the word "clincher"
I will be running them as clinchers with challenge latex tubes  probably through September. I just got a Fango clincher and might run that on front as necessary.  I ran them in the snow in December in 2 races at Kreb's out on LI and they worked really well on frozen snow/icy ground. I've got 23mm wide Boyd Vitesse wheels and was running 24 in the front w 26 in the rear. I weigh about 158. 35psi is super conservative IMO. I had them on at the Tim Johnson clinic at Cunningham  and they were great there too.

They grip pretty well but you kind of have to commit to a significant lean in corners early to get them up on the side knobs. YMV

Someone's been watching BTB TV!
To answer your question no, but only because I already purchased tires.  I feel like it's a file tread. Colt sold these as a new all around tire but when he describes the use it sounds like a file tread with bite. Perfect for (a dry) Nittany probably not so hot for muddy courses.
