The aluminator is awesome, and high on my list to be my next bike. I would contact Edwin directly and ask him what kinda deal he can give you.

Marc- The Giant TCX Advanced at 40% off should be $2400 with sponsorship deal, right? Seems like better deal at $1000 less. Carbon over aluminum and Pro level frame. (hasn't seemed to hold Lars VdH back)

get the canti' version.  Not only are discs a hassle you probably don't want, but these have mechanical discs.

Merlin is awesome! I just discovered them. I bought an ultegra 6700 12-23 cassette for $45.39 shipped and a schwalbe tubular for $63 shipped (comp cyclist $130). Cassette arrived in 8 days, tire in 10. They take paypal

I ordered a cassette from a UK company, I think BikeTiresDirect or someplace similar and the cassette came in a plain, brown cardboard box...instead of a shimano printed box. And a zip tie that held everything together. It was weird. The cogs were new, but why no official Shimano box?

mine came in a Shimano box...the tire came unboxed in a padded envelope which I understand the reason for...shipping and customs cost. Shwalbes usually come in a relatively oversized box say 5x12 so this makes sense,

Also isn't biketiresdirect just another internet outlet for Portland, OR  based Westernbikeworks? probably wasnt them. The repackaging things happens all the time on ebay too esp with items where shipping is free

A lot of UK companies ship 'grey imports'. not sure why they call them that, but they do. These are original shimano parts but intended as OEM parts. So the stores buy them in bulk to build up their own brand bikes from any Shimano importer, but they also massively over order so that they can sell on to the public cheaply. Since Shimano never planned those parts to be retail - there is no retail packaging.
Shimano cannot prevent this in Europe because there are laws to allow retailer freedom to sell what they want free from manufacturer or importer influence. Importers can be considered to have a monopoly on the market (which they have here in the US) but which we consider a very bad thing. So if the UK importer for Specialized is too expensive or restrictive (insisting that their brand clothes and shoes are also stocked for example) then the store can chose to get their specialized bikes from the importer in Belgium or Holland, etc
There are also laws that mean that even if a store gets their bikes from the dutch importer then the UK importer cannot refuse to process any returns or exchanges.

One of the many reasons Europe rocks.

     I've never heard "grey imports."  But "grey market" is probably the origin.  Grey market is not quite black market--taking advantage of grey areas in the agreements they've signed to gain a financial edge.  

are there "50 shades of grey" markets?  Cause it sounds like the manufacturers are getting fucked in imaginative ways...

both great deals.  Those are the best riding tires I've ever owned.  I was just inspecting/cleaning my wheels...Sunday's race started wet so there was a good chance glass would stick to the rubber.  I pulled out 2 small pieces of glass that were embedded in the outer casing but could not break through the flat protection belt = the belt works
