Club - As the end of the year approaches it's time to select a Board of Directors for 2018. 

 

Nominating is officially open and will close at midnight on December 8th.

 

Post a nomination and accept a nomination in this thread.  Every club member has the power to nominate anybody who is up for the task (first make sure that the person you choose is OK with it). And yes, you can nominate yourself.

For those who are accepting these nominations, it is recommended that you write a small paragraph about what you can bring to the club.

 

Elections will be done online – you will receive a personal email with your voting link within a couple of days after the close of the nomination period.

 

For general information regarding the officer duties, the Club Bylaws document is accessible to the left, just below the Twitter feed. It has descriptions of the responsibilities of each position.

 

One change we are making for 2018 is that the VP will be responsible for managing the clothing orders. This entails being a liaison to Champ Sys, reviewing proofs, scheduling the orders, etc....

It is with great enthusiasm that I hereby nominate the honorable John Malcomson for the position of Membership Director. While I have absolutely cherished my tenure as Membership Director, my free time has progressively shrunk in 2017 due to starting a thriving but demanding business, and so I do not intend to run for re-election.

Johnny makes a great CTO, but I think he would be an even more incredible Membership Director. This summer I witnessed first-hand Johnny's ability to care for new members, and always look out for the collective group. Combine this with his deep history with the club, and well, need I say more?

One thing that I have learned in this (my first) year on the board is that all positions are not created equal. Everyone plays a vital role, but the positions of Memberahip director and Sponsorship are vital to the health and longevity of our club. The current board members filling these roles have chosen not to run for them again. Therefore, I ask anyone who has the skills and temperament to develop and maintain sponsorship relationships or to promote and lead new member rides to seriously consider running for these positions. There is more to these positions than what I just described, but those are important pieces. Talk to any board members for more details. 

By the way, I am in total support of John in the role of Membership director. I simply want to open up ALL positions (including mine) to healthy competition by motivated and talented members. 

I want to nominate Jim Nelson for Vice President. Jim brings maturity, open mindedness, flexibility and a dedication to the club that make him an asset to the board. He has my support and I think he should have yours.
