Rad. I really enjoyed that--the tricks, the captions, the soundtrack, the cutting-edge VHS editing. Thanks for sharing.

For those on long tours, a good reference.

She plowed into them from behind but is saying they did not apply their brakes properly. That is BOLD

this is probably the most upsetting thing i've read in awhile, and i've read a lottttt of upsetting things in recent memory
That is the definition of evil. Civil penalties in Canada are (compared to here) small. This is some cruel shit.
This is very un-canadian

Wow. And her husband was following her and is a local constable, named (good LORD) Jules.

That's it, I'm fucking done with 2017.
Yeah, the good ol' "you're too drunk to drive home and im too drunk to
drive you home so im going to follow you home to make sure you get home ok,
and finish off any kids you squoosh with your car".

113 METERS. Do you know how fast a 4000 lb object has to be going to
hurl a 200 lb object 113 meters? Thats like 350 feet. That's further
than Usain bolt can run in ten seconds and win gold medals. That's fucked

She was driving a minimum of 90kph, a max of 117kph.  In an 80kph zone.  And texting at 1am.  I'd think the SUV weighed more than two tons to generate that kind of impact.

The real question is why wasn't she convicted of a crime.

Oh, right.  Cyclists are out for a lark.  Drivers have important shit to do.

Patrick if you had difficulty coming up with ride titles you may not like Strava's roadmap:

AAA now offers roadside assistance to cyclists:

So AAA will send a tow truck if you get a flat? Do you get a ride to a bike shop or a garage where they will treat your bike like a rental Ford Escort, and try to use SAE tools on your bike?
Well that escalated quickly

deescalated quickly?
deescalated quickly?
Descended quickly into consensus.
It was a ridiculous competition. However, that doesn't discount the fact that being a spectacular descender can be as much of an asset as a spectacular climber (course dependent).

Reveals a very ominous market trend that some spectators watch for the excitement of the crashes and upsetting that organizers are willing to sacrifice rider safety for those extra viewers.
#redhookcrit??

Paris-Roubaix much?

Of course people are going to Red Hook for the crashes.  Not everyone, but it's an element that can't be discounted.

With or without this competition, riders will be uploading their files to Strava and one of them will get the KoM for the descent of the Stelvio.

Do they really need the competition to go all-out?  Nibali crashed on the final descent in the Olympic road race with no separate competition.

Strikes me as more dangerous that people are doing descending Strava segments on open roads and trails.  At least at the Giro, the organizers could possibly add some safety features on the noted descents.
Yes, it is more dangerous that people are going for downhill strava segments.

But that has nothing to do at all with the Giro, the Giro competition was a bad idea. So it was scrapped.

Also, dangerous segments can be reported in strava, and they will remove them.
Who cares about downhill strava. Dude thats Darwinism at it's finest
Training pills... It's the future people.

OK, so perhaps at the expense of brain function, but small price to pay.

This is some crazy shit

Interestingly, the muscles of mice that took the exercise drug did not exhibit the kinds of physiological changes that typically accompany aerobic fitness: additional mitochondria, more blood vessels and a shift toward the type of muscle fibers that burn fat rather than sugar. This shows that these changes are not exclusively driving aerobic endurance; it can also be accomplished by chemically activating a genetic pathway. In addition to having increased endurance, mice who were given the drug were also resistant to weight gain and more responsive to insulin than the mice who were not on the drug.

I won't get into it much, while they broke all records, they did not achieve the goal. I found their approach flawed in a couple of fundamental ways.

Unsurprisingly, Nike created a ton on awesome content to show during the run, that make it all easier and worth watching.
