Want to mention, JP, that I enjoyed your article very much, ultimately the stories around what gear riders choose, what kind of choice they can actually make, and what difference does it make on the day, are always kinda fascinating.

Whether is Lemond vs. Fignon, or Wout on rim brakes, or even the gabba like jackets everyone is wearing on the tour today, it is always fun to explore, speculate, and find reports from those that were there.

Agreed it is a really good one!

An amazing (heartbreaking!) story. https://cyclingtips.com/2020/09/from-heartache-to-olympic-gold/

Outside the personal tragedy on the sport side it really highlights to me the amount of mental discipline that goes into world class sport. I'm not talking about discipline or focus but rather the ability to talk yourself into (or out of) certain mental states.

Cycling has been my single refuge from the maelstrom of feces that is American politics. Apparently the wind has blown in the windows here too

idk how I feel about this one.

It's a lewk that's for sure. I mean in the pantheon of terrible kits over the decades, this one is pretty mild.

I'm sure they wouldn't have had a problem racing the Giro in their regular jersey.

Kudos to them for coming up with a fresh marketing angle.  It would be interesting to know what EF sees as the benefit.  Does it make them cool for the kiddies?  Does it help them make inroads with a specific group?

Further, how much did Palace pay for this, how many replica jerseys Rapha made up, and then how they sell?
It is Rapha.

So the answer is seven
Can’t wait to see those tt helmets in play. I think it’s damned smart. Took a cue from Cippolini and ran with it.

It’s free press, and merch they can will sell later.

Because I was procrastinating on Facebook today, I saw a thread about the matter.

Here is what Neal Rogers, former CyclingTips, former VeloNews guy had to share:

"FWIW I have heard from several people from cycling community in Durango who have known Simmons for a long time. Apparently he has demonstrated racist tendencies for years. I was told that the day after Trump was elected, he was spouting racist epithets in his classroom, causing a disruption. One pro rider, who everyone on this thread knows, told me "Simmons is an asshole and haven’t heard one good thing from any of the kids that grew up with him."
All that said, I think it's pretty obvious there's more going on behind the scenes than what Trek has revealed in its statements. This isn't an isolated incident — his shitty unsolicited DM to Cory Williams being just one example — and Trek should have made that clear."

It doesn't make up for the loss of refuge, but it adds some context.

The bikes make me think of those sticker covered fixies you see locked up around the city. I'm still not sure if that's an endorsement or not lol.
Apparently, the UCI fined EF $4000+ dollars for violating podium attire rules with their new kit. I feel like $4k might be a decent investment to get all of us talking about the cycling team with pictures of ducks on their helmets.

All there limited jersey sell out
I think these are only available to RCC members
This is correct, with the sale opening at 11am EST for the Americas. I imagine that it will be horrendously overpriced and will sell out in minutes. See Ebay and various Hype Beast websites to secure your bag.
Changing How You Breathe Could Change Your Life

You’ve been breathing wrong your whole life. That’s the message journalist and outdoor athlete James Nestor delivers in his new bestseller Breath, which explains how the human species has lost the ability to breathe properly and why this is so bad for our health in all kinds of ways. But his reporting also shows that with minor adjustments in how we inhale and exhale, we can dramatically improve on everything from the quality of our sleep to our athletic performance to our posture. Nestor, who’s interest in breathing began when he wrote a feature for Outside on the sport of freediving, talks with editor Christopher Keyes about his years-long investigation into the history and science of human breathing, and his own journey to becoming a better breather.
