Interesting. TBH the two things that are most time sensitive (that don't involve actually transporting the patient to a hospital) are narcan and an AED. You could absolutely give both of those to bike messengers.

One of the best non-bike-related arguments for wide bike lanes is that emergency vehicles can use them to respond a lot quicker in case of a traffic jam. It's what happens in the Netherlands quite often. This is cool too

Here in NYC, many of the avenues with a wide diagonally-striped divider running down the middle are designed so emergency vehicles can use them when car traffic is stalled.

I'm trying to find more details, but it appears that local bike coach Ken Lundgren, the guy behind Elite Endurance Coaching, committed suicide last week by jumping off the Bear Mountain bridge.  

I meet Ken a few times, as he used to race cyclocross on the early 2010s, and was very good at it. Honestly sad to learn the news over the weekend. 

Incredibly sad. Always worth repeating; if/when life gets dark, ask for help - there is tons to be had.

Recently, "durability" was said to be a thing.  I have my doubts that it is either new or can be specifically trained.  the idea seems to be the person who can throw down the watts in a hard finale has it.  But it has struck me that what we could be seeing is the person who has either fueled the best, or conserved energy the best.

I don't read this as cold water. I think Wprime tried getting at this with the most recent version of Training Peaks, but it didn't seem to catch on - probably because it was proprietary.

Anecdotally I know of people who swear by the hardest efforst at the end of very long endurance rides. That said, ftp/the ceiling is real so if you're trying to move it up, it makes sense that you'd do that while you are fresh.

As always, when you read between the lines, the solution is often "train more"

I think both of the points you mention (fueling and energy conservation) are part of durability and training it.  If you can't fuel or draft well, you likely won't be there in the end.  Or you won't be able to contend.
