Skyline drive in San Mateo county is my old stomping ground! That's pre tty much where I learned to ride a bike.
"In the cycling accident that killed her, the driver of the van, a 22-year-old Fremont man, had turned left in front of her from the oncoming lane at the last instant, according to CHP spokesman Arturo Montiel. He stayed at the scene and has not been cited in the incident. Montiel said the collision is still under investigation."

Good job, guys.
What the heck?!?

@Jules

That sounds super scary/WTF?
Charlie I. wrote an article for the GFNY "magazine" about bike racing in Brooklyn.

WHAT EFFECT DOES AGE REALLY HAVE ON CYCLING PERFORMANCE?

Three cheers for the "over 40 crowd!"
Question for the cycling historians out there; has there ever been a case of a rider who doesn't get a contract the year following a Grand Tour Win? (doping cases not included)
@Jules,
I can't think of one, though there was a brief spell when it seemed that would be Juan Jose Cobo's fate.

Thing to know about Horner is he does have a reputation of playing tough in negotiations, his year on Saunier Duval notwithstanding.

Inspiring story, and I put it here instead of the *dopers thread because I want to believe...

"Over three years, Todd gained 85 pounds of muscle"--that's only 28.3lbs of muscle a year.  I'm sure there's little more than pan i agua, and muscle shakes.
It's funny how quick Daniel Coyle is to tweet this stuff

Gloucester gets some editorial love from a Colorado racer who finally got to cross something off his bucket list:

Sad.  Cyclist's fault I'm sure.

Awful....
I can't believe the Dombroski one. I feel awful.
I was yelling out cheers for Amy at Gloucester. Seems like it was only minutes ago. Very disorienting and sad news.

What an amazing, brilliant, insightful summary of a total revamp of the World tour.  Such alacrity, such pith!

Incredible what stunning journalism is available for the sport these days.

And all in just 66 words.
(checks internet, wristwatch...)

Yep, cycling of any kind is still a fringe sport.

I'm reading the book.  Epstein totally oversells his thesis.  One example.  The finnish skiier whom he claims was naturally better, was a doper his whole career.  Epstein never mentions this--especially relevant because he came out of retirement to go for the 1972 Olympics, got popped for amphetamines, the finns covered it up and he finished in 19th at the games.  And better yet, despite his natural advantage, despite skiing since he was three, he was still only the second-best skiier in Finland at the age of 22.
