I feel bad but my parenting duties compounded with much needed food shopping will prevent me to provide any help tonight.
It's at Park Circle, inside the park on S Lake Drive, so the F to Prospect Park and walk down Prospect Park South, or closer, the B/Q at Church.

I have the BIGGEST ASS WATER PUMP y'all have ever seen (short of an actual fire engine) so if you want a show (and a $25 gift certificate) git on yer hoss and cruise on over after 6pm...

I'm not going to be able to do the race tomorrow. (Thanks to @Phillip Maronilla for loaning me a bike, but it's a little too small and I won't feel comfortable racing on it.)

Can i race for you? Can we swap the registrations?
please let me know asap.

And we are CLEAR. Big props to Jules, Gwynna, Bruce, Jim, Kayt, and Phil (hope I haven't forgotten anyone). I think we've got this '2nd lake' draining thing figured out...
Sorry to all you lovers of the Prospect Park Lake.

The pump Jules brought was too big.

We drained the whole lake.
Naw, but the puddle is gone.

And there were fish in it.
Vlad,

There is no rider swaps allowed.

Wow.  The preload really does taste like extract of Gorilla ball sweat.

LOL. My pre-load for Turkey Hill? Well, it was homemade marinara sauce, meatballs, a lot of garlic bread and some ginger ale. I spent the better part of the day making all this in between toddler wrangling, rental car pick-up-ing, laundry doing, bank visiting and packing. #TravelSeasonHasBegun

Good luck everyone tomorrow. Can't wait to read the reports! If I can figure out my wife's iPhone, I may be able to tweet some brief results from Turkey Hill.

I led Yacks out to an armchair sprint for 1sprint point. I was close, but took 0 kom or sprint points.

I tossed my full bottle on the grass with two to go. It flipped spectacularly in the air. Then I flatted and walked back to the line immediately after.

So nada to report.
Sick dude!
"Wheel Chopper McGee and his Band of Merry Men"

What a strange race.  After last night's "flood control" I was 1/2 tempted to skip it and just spectate...

My goals were again:

1) get some race experience in bigger, faster fields
2) get some fitness from racing
3) GWEG (see below)

Me, Stokes, Ragot, Bruce V, Thierry and Yaks lined up in a sold out (!) field of 110 of our closest friends.

After some good natured self recrimination - what was I *thinking* wearing just bibs & jersey (not even a base layer) when it was less than 50 degrees out - we were off.  Big Will, an ever-smiling, good natured, tall and incredibly strong rider was just back from Speed Week (where he'd nabbed some podiums) and did his usual break-from-the-gun routine.

Surprisingly people began to chase with intent, including Ragot.  I didn't really understand, but my comprehension (or lack thereof) was secondary to my primary goal "GWEG" or "Go where Eric (Ragot) goes" so I followed.  And that was pretty much the theme of the race.

This was a weird race; no breaks stuck (to spite several promising moves - I was in at least two that had the horsepower & numbers to make a good run for it) and somehow the field was "wall to wall" ie: people not going fast - or rather going so slowly that I was worried - for much of the race.  As a result there was lots of sudden braking places one should never brake - on the downhill, at the top of the hill (!) and a very high level of anxiety.  If being afraid to take your hands off the bars is any indication, I only drank 1 of two bottles - even though it was hot enough to feel sweat dripping from my nose by the end of the race.

Incredibly I saw no crashes, but plenty of close calls.  We aimed to get Eric (Ragot) lined up for the KOM but missed the first try completely and when I came by Yaks with Eric on my wheel for the second try I just didn't hear (or missed) the instructions to wind it up, and we got swarmed.

I definitely felt (feel) like I still don't have the snap to make a clean break (or join one) but I was able to diesel myself up to some decent moves by going at the top of the hill or when people were just tired from some random surge.

With about four laps to go I began to "pray for upright" as I put it, knowing things were going to end in a field gallop.

On the final lap I was moving backwards in search of safety when I saw both Bruce & Thierry moving up; I wanted to say something but we were on opposite sides of the pack from one another.

On the communications side I don't think I did a very good job; I caught an early hand signal (or two) from Eric to go with a move, I gave Thierry the "move up now!" notice as the second KOM was winding up because I thought that's where a break would form, and I did get a couple of quick comments back & forth with Stokes, but that's about it.

This race *felt* much slower & spread out than last weeks P123 but it was almost 1 mph faster (25 vs 26mph) and I did far, far less work.  Strangely I thought positioning was much easier in the P123's than today - perhaps it was the field size.

Lastly, I have to say watching Eric lead Yaks out for the second intermediate sprint was really a thing of beauty.  It's hard to appreciate (for us newer riders) just how hard it is to go that hard while staying so steady on a bike.  I swear you could put a tray of shot glasses on his shoulders and they wouldn't spill.

I am loving these longer park races, even if I have bupkis in terms of results.

Also; the highlight of the day was the post race coffee & muffins with the gang.
So maybe there was some lap board glitch and the race is still going?
Jules, great job out there today. Sorry I missed you guys. Waited around for a bit, but had to get back to the family. See you next weekend. I'll be racing for sure then. I have to say it was tough watching you guys without wanting to be in the thick of it.
That race felt hard and fast.  It was crowded.  The field was lined up across the road and it was hard to move up if you found yourself in the middle of the pack.  I was inundated with humanity on the 1st KOM....I could not escape...I couldn't get out left or right to move up = amateur hour on my part.  This has not happened to me in a long time.  The field was thick and guys were riding very close and very bunched all day.  Perhaps the speed had people riding closer to grab a draft? My hr & power numbers were high today.  I felt flat all day with no impetus or conviction in my legs.  On the 2nd KOM I had great position behind Jules thinking we would drill it for Eric but Jules got squeezed and curbed near the start finish, which shut us down.  On the 2nd green jersey lap Eric commandeered my race and informed me that I would be following his wheel, which I did.  I glanced down for a moment to see 42mph on a crowded decent.  Eric then dropped HOLLY HELL on the field by riding like a hot knife through butter for what seemed an entire lap...dropping me near the crosswalk...But I fumbled the ball by trying to pass on Eric's left, the direction he was moving over.  Rather than go into the joggers lane I grabbed some brake and restarted my sprint.  Kevin Molloy and 2 other dudes moved past as I was trying to get my shit together.  I caught the United guy but Molloy and dude #2 had flown the coup.  Eric must have put a huge gap on the field as I soft pedaled and was only caught half way up the climb.  Eric flatted and in the last lap I again was out of position, being in the middle rather than on the sides were guys were moving up left & right.  Still, I tried to find a safe harbor near the front and was hoping to see daylight or a wheel to follow...but neither materialized and the sprint for 20th was punctuated by me dodging all the guys who dropped anchor and were free falling back through the field.  We didn't post any results to speak of today but we tried some things.  I suspect for the next one we will get it together for the intermediates.  I'm confident Eric can win the KOM if we can give him a ramp up the hill.  Today, the sprinters were not to be denied.  Today, the sprinters sat their fat asses in and waited for their go at the pie... A  pie eating barf-o-rama it was !

I watched a hard crash at the top of the first hill on the first lap.  It was a full field, guys everywhere, bunching, and just as we crested the top of the hill things got tight and down went 3 into the ground.  Jules had it right, that I never wanted to take my hands off the bars because things just got tight fast and the smell of baking carbon wheel was constantly in the air from too much braking.
This was a faster, longer race than I usually ride in the 4s, and my first time racing with a couple of you.  I got my toes in the water today.
Oh. My normalized power was 325. My kom attempt after the bothced leadout (we were together and in the right spot but didn't go when I felt we needed to go so I flew the coop) was 30sec @ 865w. Getting the power back slowly.

Frustrating but fun slinging Yacks around like that.
There is nothing "normalized" about 325 watts...Also the UCI has just banned the use of Cat o nine tails in road races.  They are still legal in crits so feel free to use yours on Kissena members at Orchid Beach today...I'm gonna go put some Neosporin on my back...
Just saw on FB that Murray from Ride Brooklyn won that sprint. Impressive - that must've been a madhouse up there.
Correction. It was 315, but still lash worthy. Sprint was fun to watch. 3rd and down was very approachable.

All this talk of NP makes me think something I said to JP once after I said a race was "hard" and he said, "no it wasn't" and I said, "good for you; I guess we were doing our job well then."
