Just a reminder if you have pre-registered for Saturday's race you can pick-up your number at R&A Cycles on Friday, June 7, between 10am and 7pm.

You must show a current USAC racing license to get your number.  No license = No number.

ATTENTION CAT 5 RIDERS: if you need to race with a one day license you also can not pick up your number on Friday.  You will need to buy the one day license at the race on Saturday.

All,

Tomorrow's race is CANCELED. I just returned from inspecting the road conditions in Prospect Park and the bottom of the downhill is completely flooded. This is the narrowest, fastest part of the course. We share this road with other park users and our racers often exceed 40+ mph in this section. It is not safe to have a race in these conditions. Considering the worst of the storm is still to come, the flooding condition will only get worse by race time. Even if the rain stops by our normal start time the damage will have already been done.

If you wold like to received a credit towards the next race on July 14 please let me know and you will be on the start list for that race. I an also issue a refund but it would make my life a whole lot easier if you accept the credit. Either way I ask that you please let me know TODAY. After today, I will assume you would like a credit and no refunds will be issued.

As you all know I work tirelessly to promote great races and trust me, nobody like to cancel a race more than I do but safety must always come first at our races.

Uhm, but you appear to be registered?
I may also be reg'd but I'll be at Cap Region
Jules,
cap region is Saturday, R&A is Sunday.  You can be in both places.

The Naugatuck crit is the same day though.  And I know how you love a good crit.
Great Scott!

Guess that means you're going to Naugatuck.

I'm registered, too.  Forgot about that.  If you pre-registered for the cancelled race and wrote Charlie, you were automatically registered in this one.
John Malcolmson still in green and hasn't registered?!?
Yeah, I asked Charlie to roll me over to the 21st.
anyone know what time registration starts for the R&A race this weekend?
@Zolan. Thanks for the heads up. I asked Charlie to transfer my credit from cancelled race over. If it gets tight I'll reg again.
John, he sent me a confirmation email a few days after I requested the role over. You may want to just email him again and ask. Stearns - Races start at 6:00 so reg at 5:00. (Though no on ever shows up to reg before 5:15 anyway.)

Annoyed...Charlie sent an email saying he was going to roll over the entry fee UNLESS we emailed him by like noon that day. So, I was like okay. But today, I forgot, wanted to register for the race, so I did. I guess I can roll it over to another race.
@John - I emailed with Charlie earlier today as I thought my reg would just roll over. He took care of it. Just send him your Lic # with the request.
thanks jim - see y'all bright and early.  if anyone's interested in taking a tempo ride up to piermont after the race, lemme know....
I am reg'd. We have a healthy looking crew (provided everyone's legs aren't jelly from the CapitalRR).

I have the green with 3 other guys on same points, BUT none have signed up yet!

I'd suggest a lead out for S1 and then we get our guys in a break to gobble points for S2 so I can have a go at the finish (and not sweat the post sprint hill attacks). That plan would entail chasing down, or me getting in a break until S1.

Open to other strategery.

Haig will not be racing.
Korff Vladed his elbow so he won't be there either.

I think John's plan is solid, although, if the "break" is just a few seconds up the road (10 or less) on the 2nd KOM sprint, I'd rather see the team work to bring them back so that John doesn't miss out on a points opportunity.

In other news, I'm not sure how much good I'm going to be to the team at this one (big change from earlier, huh? Hey-oohhh! I got a million of these), because I'm going to have to ride this one so that I get a full race of race-paced action. I can't afford for my own personal training and objectives to get dropped again at this one.

Rest assured, I'll do what I can, when I can, for the team. It would be great if I can help the team and help myself as well (but doing one strong leadout turn, then a prompt DNF as JP counters with a strong attack up the hill, is really going to be super-counterproductive for me at this point).

Frankly, most of you probably won't notice a difference come race day, but it's a significant mental shift, at least, for me, so I wanted to give you a heads-up lest you get irritated at me for crossing the finish line in the pack not having seen me at the front all day.
As those of you who witnessed my pitiful ride on July 4th can attest, I am very much in the fat and slow category of racer.
Having been off the bike for a month my goal for the weekend is to get as many fast miles in the legs as possible and so I plan on staying out of the wind in the pack as long of possible and hopefully lasting the distance. I suspect that you won't even notice I'm there. Think of me as the Kissena version of Haimar Zubeldia (albeit much less adept on the hills).
I want to work as hard as humanly possible on Sunday.  I won't likely know what that means until the morning of though.

I'm not clear on this.  Does this mean you'll be attacking us or does it mean you'll be patrolling the front, covering moves, riding yourself 'till your up to your eyeballs in lactic acid and then putting in more efforts to set John up for the sprints?  And when that's done, throwing down a blistering pace from which only one of us will have the legs to attack, and then the field crumbles, allowing you to ride it in.

JP...if the legs/lungs are willing I would love to do that. That's the best way to race. While I'm certainly stronger than I have been so far this season, in the past, so far, I've been able to do exactly one thing for the team and then get spit out the back.

For example, I had to fight pretty hard to get to Ryan's wheel to be the sweeper for a KOM he didn't even end up contesting (because of riders up the road), then on the next laps, when things got all single-filey, I got dropped.

I know how to dig, just can't afford to only get 20-40 minutes of racing Sunday...I need the full 90.
My aim would be to help out at S1 and then chill until participating in the leadout for the finish. I nominate Marc to chill and give us 45 seconds of power at the end in the leadout.
