Giro Del Cielo

Jeff C.: If you still have an open spot, I'm in for the road race and Operation Upgrade. I'm on the fence about Saturday. The more I think about it, the more I want to shirk boring things and ride bikes.
Wow thanks guys. Owens you can grab a spot for either or both days. Aly told me he may want the Sat spot. Adam F you can join for Sunday. Let me know what you guys decide.
Hey guys, I am in for sure. I'll be spending the weekend with parents in Jersey, though, so I'll just meet you all there! While I'm hoping to nab some upgrade points myself, I am of course glad to do what teammates do and assist.
I know there are a lot of comments on here about The Giro del Cielo. A lot of ins and outs on here about "TGDC." Transportation. Lots of chatter, what have you. Rides, vans, upgrades, gearing.

In such an environment, it's easy to lose sight. It's easy to take your eye off the ball. In such an environment, it's easy not to see the forest for the trees. A target-rich environment of trees!

But don't lose sight. Cut through all the chatter. Cut through all the fucking comments and all the bullshit chatter. Cut through the trees. Cut the bullshit!

Folks, it's gonna be a three-Jeff race. That's your take-home lesson, folks. A three-Jeff race. Doesn't happen too often, so hold onto your butts.

Results to follow.
Thanks, Condon. @alyoshas Let me know today whether or not you're going Saturday if you can. If you decide against it, I think I'm going to cave and go in for the whole weekend.

jeff vs jeff vs jeff.  it's gonna be a jeff-off.
Hmmmmm.  I've done about 250 miles this week and am feeling tired. I'll take it easy the rest of the week. If the car is full for Saturday, I'll go Sunday.  Otherwise, I'd do Saturday and race L&C Sunday.  It's really not a big deal to me.

Alright -- I'm in for both days, Jeff C.
#threejeffs

It's a thing
Just reg'd.

Could pro'lly get a discount on a bulk buy of those KCC 50 bike decals with the name 'Jeff'.
OK, I have mapped what I believe may be the TT course (though it would be nice for someone who has actually done it to verify):

Check out this map on MapMyRide: 4.65 mi Cielo TT
Distance: 4.65 mi

Here is a screen shot with grade
i only just noticed this...

if you want to TT saturday, make sure you register.... and do it before 5pm today!

Might be smart to register in general. Website sets a field limit of 75 for the stage race, with 54 registered (4/5s). But then for the RR, there are 30 registered. Not sure how they handle that.
i just registered.
Owens, what did you decide? We can have a three-jeff race without you.

I'm up for whichever. If Yoshi wants to do Saturday, your car will be full no?

Otherwise I can do both days. Or either. It's really cool to me any way.
Right now I believe I'm taking Alyosha and Adam F on Saturday. So the car is full unless someone has a rear car rack I can use.

Only Adam F is in for Sunday so I have a spot that's got your name on it.  Pre reg closes in 18 minutes if you want to get on it.
@jeff condon ... i have a rack you can use.  it's the saris bones 3.  not sure whether it'd fit.
I'm reg-ed for the TT only...looking fwd to getting in the pain cave!
Ok. Just tell me what to do an I'll do it. Im like a plow horse.

Looks like I'm def in for Sunday tho.

Condon FTW!!!!

Is this list still valid? I believe Ryan wants people to assemble at his house. We are waiting for TT start times to figure out when to leave. It is ~67 mi from PP and 1.5 hours according to google maps. Personally, I require only 60 min prior to my TT start.

Okay: Me, Stokes, Whitey, Adam N. and Clifford in the van. 299+ tax is $60 each for the weekend. Adam, if you want to drive it home on Saturday that's okay with me as long as you pay your share of extra gas.

I can put my 3-bike rack on the van, which will mean only two bikes in the car. That should leave decent room for trainers and extra wheels.

Hoping all can meet at my house in Carroll Gardens except Stokes who we can pick up right by the Tunnel.

My address is 200 Nelson St. #3, Brooklyn, NY 11231

Remember we'll have to get there and get a number and pin it on before warming up. I'd like to have 90 minutes before my start if possible but let's just wait and see who starts when and we will figger it out.

Owens: You must go Saturday. There are upgrade points at stake and Condon could have no better escort. Plus, there are plastic juicer primes to be won.

Donovan!

Ah, the juicer prime with the secret $40 (?) inside.  Cue Glory Days song!

^That was the strangest preme prize.

The irony is we won it by mistake. Jeff was going to lead me out for the point primes, but I couldn't hear a damn thing they were announcing. We go by the start/finish and I hear something about a prime. I said "Jeff, lead me out!", which he does so well that I win the sprint handily. Well, it was so easy because nobody cared because it wasn't a point prime. It was for a plastic juicer. Which happened to have an envelope taped to it with $50 inside.
I think I'm out for Saturday for two reasons.  One of the promoters got back to me and didn't know how a 75 rider limit field would work if they added up all the people reg'd for the whole thing PLUS the people you just reg'd for the RR or crit.  It puts them way over 75!

Plus, $35 + expenses for a 15 mile crit sounds crazy.  I didn't realize it was so short.

Hopefully I can do Sunday, otherwise  it's L&C here I come!
