Not really an organized team race, but they're using an "auto-cat" feature that's going to automatically place you in a group based on your previous results.

I have to say, the recent response of Zwift to cheaters is absolute steaming merde. They've discovered people have been cheating, and have the ability to identify who, when and how much cheating was done. Instead of doing that they've patched the bug that allows the cheating, and are "Looking forward instead of back."

This is exactly the attitude that has left pro cycling in such disarray, and on such moral low ground.

I totally understand the tension they face between encouraging users and making their "esport" offering fair; obviously user numbers are their #1 priority, regardless how dirty they have made their "esport"

I think there was a middle ground though; they could have sent a nice email to the identified cheaters, and said something like "some people (of course not you) were using this in order to cheat, so we've made it impossible to do in the future. Keeping our sport fair is super important to us and that's why we're doing it."

Instead, they went with "don't look, don't see, don't say anything" about transgressions in the past.

Merde.
I only used Zwift a hand full of times , but my first impression , was ,fuck this is too hard , all these guys must be cheating

A friend of mine's wife got a Peloton bike several years ago.  He started using it as well.  It drove him crazy because he was sure people were juking their numbers.  He'd see the leader board thing and notice that people who weighed 30lbs less than him were putting out similar power numbers--and he could hang with Cat 1's local to his area when they threw down on the Sunday hammerfests.  I'd get angry calls from him about it.

At least with Peloton there was a questions that perhaps their quality control wasn't good and that was causing some of the issues.
With the first generation of Peloton bikes, they didn't have actually power meters so it was all voodoo math and algorithms behind the scenes to get your power number. From what I've read the calibration of the bikes from the factory could sway these numbers in a big way and there wasn't really too much you could do at home to correct this.

The second gen with the swivel screens have actual strain gauges so the numbers are a bit more reliable and there aren't such huge massive from bike to bike (obviously still some because each strain gauge is different)
