Team Kit Order

Hey just on the off-hand chance anyone ordered a new edition wind vest that is too large for them, I have a brand new medium sized wind vest that is, ahem snug for top layer, that I would like to trade for a large.

Yes, I'm a little plump these days, but it seems that the "outer-wear" items made by Champion are not sized up to allow for wearing of jersey's underneath. So if you are a medium jersey kind of guy and unless that medium is on the baggy side, I would recommend getting a "large" wind vest for example.

I wish we could have a sizing try-on party of some sort in the future.
@marc Happy to take off your hands.  Don't have a large but can give you mula.
Daniel, happy to do a vest-mula transfer. I'm going to be racing HPCX and Independence in a couple of weeks, if you're there, would be good to swap then.
Jules - So we're on two months here since the second order went through, or since the store closed, and Im not sure how long since the skinsuit-specific order was half filled... Is there a status update? I'm looking forward to those fleecy shorts this fall, like to exchange that skinsuit as well.
We don't have shipping notices from CS yet, but we're hoping to hear from them early next week.
Yeah, I thought turn around times were supposed to be cut to like 2 weeks. I guess if I thought the last august order was for the winter, I would've also order fleece stuff. Don't hate when I gotta rock the old kit!
Shipping is 2 weeks, not turnaround times.
Ok.  So can we have some clarification as far as, "Hey, if you are wanting stuff for the next 3, 5, 7, months" or whatever, you should put something in for the order this time?  The old ordering process was so slow, you ended up asking for stuff on the "Winter" order in November only to have it arrive in late March, when it's finally starting to get warm.  It just made no sense.

Again, I know dealing with Champion Systems is a total pain in the ass and unprofessional.  I'm not saying it's anybody's fault.  Just some clarification on delivery from final ordering date would be awesome.  And I know, possibly unlikely!

If turn-around time is 2.5 to 3 months, we should re-open the store now for our Q1 2013 order.
Nobody is happy with the current level of service we're getting from ChampSys, least of all me.  Charlie & I have discussed the issue at length.

Turnaround time has been very unpredictable, largely due to the proof changes that ChampSys sometimes makes at seemingly random times in the process.

Full disclosure though; we probably added 3 weeks to the process because of people calling, emailing or texting saying words to the effect of

"Dude, I've been (out of town, sick, off the forum, kidnapped by manatees, swamped with work/family/artistic endeavors etc) and didn't get a chance to order - can you keep the store open just one more day?

No joke, we probably had 10-15 of those.

Once we get the current order delivered we're going to revisit the full end-to-end process with ChampSys.

Our best option right now seems to be ordering directly through the ChampSys website (cuts about two weeks out of collating orders)

That doesn't address the core problem though, which is ChampSys randomly altering proofs.

In case anyone is wondering "How many proofs could there possibly be?!?" there are at least 4 for winter jackets alone and over 30 in total.

Thanks to the behind-the-scenes dudes on your work with Champion Systems, who seem to be the most ironically named clothing company out there.

Time to cut the cord. Let's move on. Charlie as race director should not also force us to work with a company that is offering product and services that are less than they should be.
+1 on the suggestion of re-opening the store for Q1 2013....Obviously, we're encouraging people to wear the new kit to keep sponsors happy, so we want to give folks as much of a chance to do so as possible.  I'll also end up having to rock the old kit when the weather turns cold as well.....

So - yes to clearer time lines on orders/delivery dates, and yes to possibly re-opening the store.  But it's important to also say - in fairness to Jules and others managing the whole thing, we owe it to them to get orders in on time and not ask for extension after extension.  We should respect the deadlines.

Last but not least - huge thanks, as always, Jules and anyone else involved for all of the work/dealing with 2 dozen + requests for late orders.
There are STILL a half-dozen unclaimed bags of kit from the summer order at Ride Brooklyn.
time for an auction?
Who was kidnapped by manatees?  I must have been sleeping when that occurred.
Harry. He had to seduce the queens ailing sister and the sneak out of the underground grotto by way of the steam vents - then fight his way through the forest of murk where he killed, skinned and donned the fur of a land-narwhal before hiking back to civilization under cover of night.

Apparently he could only get two bars or reception in the grotto, not enough for the page to load.

If there's unclaimed kit there at Ride Bkln, say, in the neighborhood of Medium... well then I volunteer to clear some of it out (will pay cash). It is a shame that I have to ask about this. As the 5th ranked* Kissena cat4, this team should be ensuring that I'm outfitted with the latest. Someone should be covering for me whilst I'm away doing things like training in Girona, shopping Olive Oil & Co., and product testing with Thermos.

Anyhow, let me know if someone is giving-up their size-M kit wear.

I'm in for the large size auction.
i'm in the market for some size large gear as well.......norm if i can score a large jersey i'll sell you my medium jersey...only worn 2x and kept fresh and clean......
any word on skinsuits??
Since I have a front row seat to the clothing process via the relationship between clothing and sponsorship, I want to say, because Jules likely won't, that all frustrations are the fault of our clothing provider, and not our internal process. The shit ChampSys requires us (meaning Jules) to iron out, is thick.
Thanks Ryan.

Dave, once I have a fedex tracking number I'll send out an update.
oh ryan - i do not doubt what you are saying for a minute....i know how all to well how this business works. none of my frustration is directed at jules....in any way, it just seems silly that cx gear is looking like it won't arrive until the season is near an end. i don't hold him accountable for any of it. sorry to you as well jules. i know that it is not in your control, and you are probably more frustrated than any of us. patience is a virtue......isn't it??
We didn't get our hands on the mangled skinsuits until the end of July - in retrospect it was nearly impossible to anticipate how brutal the process would be to get our orders done.

Lord knows it wasn't for lack of trying.

Check out this handiwork

Eeeeek. I'm crying on the inside looking at that.
In other news, if anyone lets Johnny "Wrongway" Malcolmson back into the winter computrainer sessions then there will be TEARS next spring in the 123 field.  I pity the fools.

Just sayin'
Yeah, Jules spends on average about 10 hours a week dealing with this BS. This is why we should all bring him gifts a plenty when picking up our kit. I've brought him beer. He never seems to reject it...

Jeff, totally agree. Never met a person with more patience. Would not be surprised if Jules has put in over 100hrs on this yrs kit orders (maybe eve more).
Thanks Ros, Jeff.

I'm going to get a screenshot of that and bring it to work.  They'll be rolling in the aisles, "patience" is not what I'm known for, to say the least.

The difficulty of working with the CS art department is one reason we are trying to keep the sponsors as stable as possible; every change to the design is potential agony.
sorry. I just love that skinsuit shot. It's like someone looked at it, did some quality control, and went, "Yeah, damn fine. Damn fine. Looks good. Let's ship it ASAP, they're gonna love it". It's like a harlequin mish-mash put in a blender. Can I have it?
