Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

Saddle River Gang: Thank YOU for spending a big chunk of your day riding with me into Jersey. I know your time is valuable and I really appreciate you guys hanging with me.

We won't have time every weekend for these longer rides, but every now and again this winter we'll try to repeat. And as we all get fitter, we can pick up the pace a bit. With just a slight increase in effort, we could easily cut off 20 minutes from this ride.

Hopefully you all are getting in some good Monday active recovery. Because even though the intensity was low, the distance was LONG, and that too takes a toll on the body.

1. Remove one glove.  Many choose to use their teeth to do this.  Another reason why dental health is important.
Fact: Handsome Joe Mueller has claimed on this forum that meticulous oral hygiene will make you faster on race day.
Remember to keep your energy bars next to your junk. Breaking a tooth on a
frozen Clif Bar is not the way to fly

A little early for enthusiasm, but looks to be a halfway decent weekend.  Preliminary yes to Sunday.  Definite maybe for Saturday.
With these cold/rainy/foggy/snowy weekday mornings putting a kink in my training schedule, I'm always looking out for the long ride. Have to stay close to BK on Sunday (CP laps anyone?) but I'm a definite maybe for Saturday as well.
If we go long on Saturday I'm down for Sunday CP laps (haven't done those in forever).

I definitely freak out if I don't brush before a morning ride. I think you wanna breathe more if your mouth is minty fresh so your muscles get more oxygen and... vroom. It's like crisp fresh country air vs. summertime garbage truck.
Funny coincidence, after last week's ride where i drank an espresso at both Strictly and Piermont and had a bitter coffee tast in my mouth all morning, I was thinking if it would be weird to carry a few of these in my jersey:

I don't trust you as an arbiter of what's considered "weird" or not, Mr. Cyclocross Race Promotor.
Not nearly as weird as if you fell and stabbed yourself with one in the back.  Trust me, the admitting nurse would definitely call that was weird.  Probably on the chart.
I'm going to brush my teeth ON THE BIKE just to show you all.  Someone take artful photos of me and maybe Colgate will sponsor us with pallets of Wisp portable toothbrushes.
As i learned years ago there is only one reason to utilize such products.

That reason is not affending pretty french podium girls when they wander up
to kiss you and hand you stuff.

Its why our podium zip lock bags had clean shorts and jerseys, wet wipes,
clean caps, towels, cologne, and breath mints.

There are no podium girls at strictly. Cute, french or otherwise.

Therefore it's weird

If you did that I would chop your wheel.
Youd chop someone for pre podium freshening?? Brendan....

Hi All,
Is there a ride going out tomorrow by the GWB? I'm down to ride Sat & Sunday. Let me know where/when to meet.
i was thinking of leaving brooklyn bridge at 8, gwb at 9 then up to nyack.  probably run into some others doing the same.
If I can shake the final vestiges of my cold I will be out tomorrow. BB & 8.
Tomorrow morning looks like snow & rain, but I'm still down for some long, slow, sweatless miles and practicing a steady pace. Anyone else on the endurance plan? 8am BB.
I'll be out riding Saturday, but can't fix on a time.

Sunday, I'm down for some Kissena action.  Looking for plenty of tempo.  Happy to lead/follow a group north or inland or wherever. 9am at the GWB for me.
no group ride sat/sunday for me this weekend.

monday, however, i could go out over the bridge if someone is interested?  i guess i'll post in that other thread
I'll be at the BB Saturday at 8
I'm a maybe for tomorrow. 8a BB.
Trying to get out tomorrow morning. Looking to be back in BK between 12 and 1, if possible.
Whose in for Sunday?
Riding once a week? Working on a front bum? Then the Sunday Fat F***'s Ride is for you.
River road descending competition, followed by ultimate avoiding the front skills session. Endurance weakening therapy compliments of Piermont Cycles and Stumptown. Jersey pulling encouraged!
I'll be at GWB at 9am NJ side this morning.
I may venture out sunday
Just broke my stem on my way to the BB. I mean, wtf. Have fun & stay warm out there.
