Yesterday I took my fenders off and ended up riding in a snow storm.

That would be Aaron and me. We were at the bridge at 9, waited 'til 9:!3 for the slackers and headed off. Kept it flattish all the way up to Valley Cottage, then rode around there and came home.
There was accumulation on the ground once we got to West Nyack. After we climbed Rockland Lake, it started to flurry a bit. We kept our pace and our original plan and kept going.

Chilly spin in the park with @Yang, @Perlberg, @Ros, @Dale, and @EMehlenbeck who I haven't seen in ages.
Jackson from Wonder Wheel sat on for a while and when all the rest had fled to watch footsie-fall or whatever we continued on. Turns out he raced for Kissena over thirty (!) years ago and took the time to say how heartwarming it was to see the club thriving again.
Managed to nap the last lemon poppyseed donut at Kondatori on my way home.

I'm thinking of heading over the GW Bridge from Brooklyn by car tomorrow (Monday, January 20th) and then riding up to Piermont (or somewhere north) from Ft. Lee and back. Leaving Brooklyn by car at 8:30. Need to be back here by 12:30-ish. I have room for 2 to 3 riders and accompanying bikes. Post and PM me if you want to go. If nobody responds I"ll be out in Prospect Park at 9:00 for about one hour.

Nice solo ride with my wife's iPhone to check every intersection that place in Connecticut where every town name came directly from the UK. Canterbury, Sterling, etc. Was riding for a while, then I see signs for Providence, RI. I'm like "Dude...I gotta ride into Rhode Island!" And so I did, then I promptly turned around and found roads called Cedar Swamp Road and Hell Hollow Road (which went by Hell Hollow Pond) and generally had lots of fun climbing quiet farm and trailer park type roads in 30-ish degrees and sunny. It was breezy and the air was damp, so the "felt like" temp was lower, but still happy that the wife kicked me out of the house so that I could work off some calories.
Looking forward to a MLK ride over the GWB. Route and time TBD.

FYI- I'm heading out around 12:30 today for some laps in Central park. I'll be wearing a NYC Velo long jersey but sporting the Orange KC helmet so keep your eyes peeled.

Made it out today for a couple of hours. Ran into Peter Bysshe, which is almost like sighting bigfoot, then ran into Scott, and we made the 2010 Battenkill podium reunion complete. Small world

@Jules - that rig is freaking amazing. I see a lot of seemingly custom anodized aluminum (yack bait) and ... are those ... Onzas?! Clamped on as custom bike rack parts?!

If you were a brooding '90s adolescent who rode a mountain bike everywhere at least partly because you were under the mistaken impression that they were still kind of edgy, you know what Onzas are. Otherwise, see here. It is crucial to note the '90s logo font.

I went over to Jersey today. Not bad at all. the bridge is the messiest.
I ended up doing about an hour in the flurries. Wish I had gotten out earlier. I think there's enough salt on the road that riding tomorrow should be ok.
At this point, I'm thinking I'll be at the bridge at 9am tomorrow. Depends on how cold it is. 16, almost certainly, 14, not so sure.

Some you you may know that I Keith and I share a birthday. And since 120 miles riding with the likes of JP Partland and Dan Chabanov up Bear Mountain, might just be too much...
I'm kicking around the idea of a "Bertucco's 'B' Birthday Ride." It's part of my commitment to having more mentor-led alternative group rides this year.
It WILL NOT be this coming weekend (I'm out of town) for anyone who might be interested. And this one wouldn't go all the way up to Bear Mountain, but would take us north past the Apple Orchard (ask your friends), hitting up some really nice roads, including some ball-busting climbs that Mattie D. showed a few of us a few years ago. Because despite being a slower than average Kissena climber, it's still among my favorite kinds of riding to do. And even though it doesn't take in Bear Mountain, it would still require similar time commitment that Keith's ride does.
Anyway, let me know if you might be interested in this ride.
But...fear not those with other lives...I'll still be leading my regular length B-rides this winter/spring too. Keep an eye on this thread. Also keep your fingers crossed that we get a more traditional NYC winter weather pattern soon.
