Ugh I wish! Still sick in bed with no fun flu :P will be reading your posts with envy through wknd
Peoples,
The last notice I got from the Port Authority is that the GWB path is closed due to icy conditions.  I'm going to ferry over to NJ in all likelihood tomorrow sometime.
:(
That's a bummer. Saw photographic evidence of that today, though I didn't know it would last through tomorrow.

Good old Prospect Park it is.

"Cracking open Mr. Grant's Tomb."

March 1 or 2, time TBD. Mark your calendars, weather depending, I will lead eager riders around both Grant's Tomb courses, discussing best and alternate racing lines, strategy and tactics. This will be a good opportunity for you to pre-ride the course that makes grown men shiver. Plenty of time to figure out where YOU want to start your sprint from, ask questions and generally familiarize yourself with the course that hosts one of the best races on the NYC calendar.

The idea is that this clinic is either immediately after a Central Park Race (crickets so far on that front), OR a stop on the way north over the GWB for a more usual weekend ride.
Saturday, rode out to Tarrytown. The messiest part was getting out of and in to the city.

Sunday, took the 39th street ferry to Weehawken.  The roads in Jersey were excellent.  Only problem was the pricey commute.  the twelve minutes of travel time cost $19.50 round trip.
@Marc B - Branchbrook is on Sat morning (Mar 1st) and KCC new member ride is on Sun morning (Mar 2nd).  I'm assuming the clinic would be pretty early in the morn to avoid car traffic?

Correct. Early a.m. There's no way to avoid all traffic, but if we get there around 8am-ish, we can have a productive session. As far as the conflicts...thanks for the heads-up, but "tis the season!" There's no way to avoid all conflicts. I think it's important to have this session just one week before the race so the corners and motivation is fresh in participants' minds as they pin on their numbers on race day. As always, it will be up to members to prioritize and decide what they are going to do on the day.
Cool cool, thought I'd mention it in case you were planning on doing either.  Looking forward to the pre-ride, even if it is just to become familiar with the course since this will be my first time.

Okay, tired of waiting for the "Legacy of AVD" to announce a spring race series or not, and looking at the Kissena calendar, I see that there is a new member ride at 9am on March 2nd starting on the Jersey side of the GWB. Sooooo....

"Cracking Open Mr. Grant's Tomb"

Where: 120th and Riverside Drive, Manhattan, NYC
When: March 2, 7:30-8:30 am (plenty of time to get to the Sunday new member's ride if so desired)
What: Course review and practice. Sprints, corners, etc. Hotlaps as traffic allows, but we'll breakdown every corner, every approach, etc.
Who: All KCC members (friends/family welcome too, but let me know ahead of time so I can bring release forms or something)
Additional note: Your day's training ride will be before and/or after; be dressed for lots of stopping and starting and listening to me talk.

I've been on an emotional rollercoaster today.

First, I was setting up to kill myself indoors.  A bit of a downer.
Then, I realized I could ride outdoors.  Flying high.
After being out in Central Park for an hour, I realized conditions were good enough to go for hours.
As I was enjoying this, I realized I needed to get home for a promised trip. going down.
But, if the snow stayed light, I could ride for hours tomorrow.  Elation.
Then, the snow came down harder and started to build on the roads.  Depression.

BTW, Peoples, Sunday February 23rd is the last Sunday in February.

This has traditionally been Kissena's All Hands on Deck ride.

Start at the usual time, roll out to the Rockleigh crit course, do some easy laps of the course, then do some hard laps, then break into category groups for the remainder of the day.  All groups eventually head to 9W for riding home in a fast rotating paceline.

One hundred and one pages of Weekend Rides.  That's a lot of muffins.
Any know how PP roads looking today. It's strangely seems like very rideable weather with this sun out and relatively dry roads here in South Slope. Hmmmm.

The GWB pathway was closed anyway.

Echoing Ros here...anybody tried the park the last couple days?
Central Park was excellent over the weekend.

Saw Aaron there on Sunday.

Good to know. I might be doing an active recovery ride there on Wednesday this week (if the rain stays away).

(of course you saw Aaron there...he was there riding for FOUR hours...crazy man) :-)
I did 3 hours in cp on Sunday. Ran into Aaron on my way out. Good to just get outside
I'll be leading a group ride on Thursday starting at Ocean and San Vicente in Santa Monica, CA - 10 AM. All are welcome.
Is it via 9W Ryan??

If you HTFU it is

Wojciech would do it
Damn right, I should HTFU
In all seriousness, I wish I was in LA riding along bro..
