I wish you were too!

I'm doing a ride Friday starting around 10-11am at gwb. Anyone interested in 3 hours or so of tempo into piermont let me know.

Also, wanted to add I'm prob heading to GWB Saturday and Sunday 9am or 10am to do 3-4 hours both days. Any and all interested in doing some long rides this weekend let me know. Can do 9W, or go up to Bear Mtn area if interested.

All, as we've all noticed, we've got a nice window of weather on us this weekend. So apologies for the late notice, but I'd like to announce #2 in an unlimited series of longer, but easy pace rides THIS SATURDAY. (let's reserve Sunday for the more traditional KCC group ride)

There are three options I'm considering. Long, longer and longest. All are "worm-hole" rides, the first two patented by JP. The third is my own creation and requires time availability of Keith's Super Bowl showdown.

1) The one we did last time...I don't have a clever name for it yet. "Christmas Tree Hill?"
2) Another inland Jersey ride, but longer by 30-40 minutes. "Ridgewood"
3) One that goes north of the Apple Orchard and takes in some great winding, hilly roads. Some that Mattie D showed me, a few that I explored on my own. "Apple Orchard EXTREME"

Let me know if anyone has any interest in these easy tempo, but LONG rides on Saturday.

@Marc, will you be meeting at the regular time on Saturday? 8am bb?

Well, I live in Manhattan, but yeah, 9am Jersey side of the GWB seems civilized. Although this being the Saturday program, I/we can be more flexible depending on interest. But for now, lets assume I'll be there at 9am (GWB) and we can decide a route from there. Just bring money, tubes, etc., being prepared for a longer ride in unfamiliar terrain.

Speaking of which, JP what do you think the standard Ridgewood ride, that takes in the long Watchung climb at the "turn-around" point takes GWB to GWB. 4 hours? Less?

I am down for the saturday morning ride but want to head up to Bear Mountain if there are any takers. From Manhattan it works out to a perfect century. 

I'm heading out this morning for a 9am GWB meetup if anyone is interested let me know. Doing a slow 3-4 hrs in Piermont.

FYI the underpass below GWB was not cleared today and was still covered in snow and ice as of 9am Friday. After I walked about 1 mile hike-a-bike in road shoes in the snow I came across an MTA crew shoveling the ice. Not sure if it's still bad but beware for tomorrow's ride if you go that way, or just take surface roads after 125th street.

And dont' believe the hype with the weather reports, Piermont and 9W were significantly colder than the predicted 50 degree temps today. My Garmin says avg temp was 32. That's average temp. Suffice to say, dress warmer than you think you need to if you're packing in the miles. 

I'll be heading out a little later tomorrow, to hopefully hit the warmest part of the day. BB at 10 am. Any takers?

9am GWB/8am BB for me!  Gotten to the point that i think of the bike as an indoor machine.  This'll be fun.

And to add to Craig's previous comments, it's going to be wet out there tomorrow at least, so regardless of what the air-temp is going to be, I'm dressing for cold.

For those riding inland with me, I'll be sporting old-school Kissena kit (don't want to muck up my "dress whites") and a serious "Into the Wild" beard.

Winter jacket or long sleeve and vest?

It's 6:21 am and 41 degrees. It'll get warmer when the sun gets out, but not a ton. Looking forward to seeing as many of you folks out there as can make it out today. Beware of black ice.

Andrew, I'm personally going to go with winter jacket because the wet bounces better off it's surface more than any vest/long sleeve combo I may have. That said, if you have a nice waterproof/resist shell, and layer it over a fuzzy warm longsleeve jersey, that may be a good combo today too.

Honestly, I wish it were going to be sunny, dry and 28 degrees today. So much easier to dress for than wet and 41.

I heard that the vortex is coming back next week.

Big thanks to Dave, Aaron and Jessica for keeping me company (and listening to me drone on about bike racing techniques and tactics) on a ride into the inner sanctum that is Northwestern New Jersey! Malcolmson didn't have the time available for a longer ride with us, but he did start things out with us. We were all a little sad to not see his f'ing stealth bad m-fer of a bike, but today was not the day to bring out the crown jewels.

Along the way, we dreamed what it would be like to live on a hilltop in FancyPants Ridgwood New Jersey with a far off view of NYC, battled a few KOMs, downed some 7Eleven eats and treats and I had a great time. Lots of ice on the morning meet-up portion of the ride, and sloppy bikes, but tomorrow, if the rain stays away, should be darling x2.

Great day out there.  Looking forward to seeing a large posse tomorrow.  (remember, regular to Rockleigh, some fast laps there, break into smaller groups for the trip back--and everyone should ride a rotating paceline back on 9W)

The Olympics should be over by then so yes.

Bit of a squirrely ride up to GWB with random black ice to keep you on your toes. Nice to briefly ride with Bertucco & co, before going solo to Piermont. Hung out with the Setanta guys at Piermont, and then caught up with one of their riders Henoch, left to fend for himself by his teammates after face planting on the ice?!

i'll be in CP for a lap or two in about thirty minutes
