Craig London - I am looking to do 4 to 5 hours GWB to GWB on Sunday. Possibly a repeat of Mark's Saddle River wormhole ride from a few weeks ago (http://www.strava.com/activities/124238977) . I was thinking of going at 9am though for the standard meetup.

Damn, Josh, that's what a Jersey wormhole looks like?  Weird breadcrumb trail left on the map, but it's one of my favorite rides, too.
It is a great route. Thanks for dreaming it up to you and Marc. I got my hours and miles, with others!, so I am happy. Next time I will try it on a Saturday though. Closed deli's and restaurants on Sunday are blargh. Emily didn't mention crashing a Porsche car club's private meeting to get a bathroom stop. I hope wormhole doesn't have fight flub esque rules that I have now broken.

1st RULE: You do not Strava WORMHOLE.

2nd RULE: You DO NOT Strava WORMHOLE.

Jeesh...it took me 10 years of riding wormhole with JP to figure out the route. Strava. Damn you.
It was a 70-mile day for me after a couple low mileage weeks, so I was pretty happy/proud/tired.  BUT no bonk, thanks to the Cadbury chocolate creme eggs gifted to us by the mini-mart attendant.  Thank you mini-mart attendant.  Somewhat made up for the awkward of accidentally cleat-clomping through the private Porsche brunch.  You're WELCOME private Porsche brunch.
Anyone planning to head out Saturday?

That, and probably everyone with a bike will be out. Use your trainer! Avoid the crowds!

Sunday I'll probably ride to Piermont and watch the end of Roubaix at Mattie's
Looking for some advice for riding up to Westchester. I have precious little time this weekend and want to combine my Saturday long ride w/ a brunch I'm attending in Pound Ridge (my wife will drive me & my bike back to BK). Wanted to go the Haverstraw-Ossining ferry route, but no weekend service. This is what Google is telling me to do:

Does that seem like the smartest route? Anyone familiar w/ these trailways and bike paths?

I'll tag along!!

Seems like the smartest to me. I don't know how the Trailway will be on the weekend.  Could be busy, could be empty.  I'll tell you that it's tricky when you get to end of the first section.  You need to make a right and then the first left at the light.  And you take a busy street until you get to a left turn that's for trucks to take to warehouses.

If you definitely want to ride hard, it would be easier to take roads along the hudson until past Tarrytown.

I'm heading out from Brooklyn bridge at 7:30 on Saturday. Steady pace to sparkill and back. Be prepared to keep up as I have a schedule to keep in getting back to Brooklyn.

I just need the extra sleep and can't justify the $45 for a race before heading off to vacation.

well shit. I did computrainer with you and KNOW I can't keep up. If anyone has advice about where I can go up and down a hill about 20 times on Saturday please let me know!

Meredith, usually a few of the racers head to Sparkill/Piermont after the race for extra miles...and if they did their job right, they'll be pretty toasty from the race, so pace should be manageable.
sorry about the pace, I'm just putting in that last bit of fitness before vacation.

@mugwump Not going too hard, so pathways should be fine. Gwynna hooked me up with a sweet turn by turn — which I hopefully won't turn into an east of the river wormhole.
@eragot‌ I'll try to make that. Don't wait too long for me though.
@eragot‌ I should be there as well.
Its 740. I'm waiting until 745. Of course I just got here.

I'll joining you guys too, 9am by GWB? people coming from Brooklyn want to meet at BB at 8am?

Going to head-out tomorrow for some (hopefully) group ride fun...wormhole style, taking in some coolio roads including some longer climbs. This will be 4.5 hour bridge to bridge ride. Pace will be my version of moderate (which is still not that quick). So for references, those who have been on my slow group rides this season, I'm looking to go a couple of notches quicker. Leaving 9am-ish from the Jersey side of the GWB.
Not gonna make it at 9.  Sinus infection still hanging around having fun.
AFTERNOON DELIGHT
Family stuff got in the way with riding over the Bridge this morning. Ill be heading heading of Brooklyn by car at noon today, parking on the Jersey side of the GWB and doing a moderately paced Piermont plus hills ride.  PM me and call me at 917-579-6580 if you want a lift out and/or back to Brooklyn. I can take myself plus 3 w bikes.
@Owens. This is not the right thread, but, have you seen this TED talk? http://blog.ted.com/2014/03/19/how-microbes-could-cure-disease-rob-knight-at-ted2014/
My partner Caroline did some tests here http://americangut.org/ we're waiting on results.
The upshot of it all is, you may be in desperate need of a poo transplant!
@Wrongway if you are interested in the topic this episode of Radiolab is neat; especially the excercise tests...

@Wrongway Also the Mary Roach book "Gulp" all about the digestive system is very funny and has some great interviews on this particular subject.

@Gwynna & @mugwump happy to report back that adventures north of the city went smoothly... a little too smoothly on those bike paths. Felt like the video game version of cycling. But good dirt, mud & bumps through Van Cortlandt Park and some of the unpaved back roads past Chappaqua & Mt Kisco. Flat Battenkill! Couldn't recommend for a group ride & I missed the hills, but fun nonetheless.
