Meredith what part of Brooklyn are you coming from. Typically you should give yourself about an hour from the BB to GWB

I will be one hour later than the usual ride tomorrow (Saturday 6/21) --BB at 9:00, GWB at 10:00, heading up to Piermont via Bradley Tweed, at mid tempo.  PM or call me (917-579-6580) if you plan on joining like to join so I know to look, or wait for, you.

I will be riding long and hard tomorrow. 7 a.m. BB, 8 a.m. GWB. If anyone else wants to go attack some hills lemme know.

If anyone is considering a late ride over the GWB today, bike path is closed, as somebody apparently hung themselves on the bridge and everyone is being turned around on both sides (hope nobody is stuck on the NJ side coming back). Just FYI.

Me! Stuck! Sad circumstance. I think they're about to let us over via the north side walk.

Thanks, @Bruce, good to know. Some people were talking about riding to the Hoboken PATH station but luckily they opened the south walk again after a bit of indecision. Lost a little time, but gained some appreciation for, you know, life.

I'm driving out from Brooklyn.  Will try to meet you at the NJ side of the GWB at 9:00 AM.  Don't wait for me though if you don't see me there. I also have room in the car if for any reason anyone wants a ride out from and/or back to, Brooklyn. Let me know.

sorry guys. I won't make it to pier montde it to paramount. I'm at the deli on 9w and turning around in order to make it home on time. I'm a total loser. I have a feeling you guys will come streaming pass me on the ride back to the branch. Hope I didn't cause any delays.

Nice steady ride up to Piermont with Wes, met up with Phil and Aaron at the shop, and rode back as a group.

And it was really hot out.

I don't know how accurate the Garmin is with temp, but according to it, it never went below 90degF after we left Piermont, with a couple of sections hitting 99.  Note: Bring the 24oz bottles next time.

At one point mine said 86 degrees. but it felt hotter. My downloaded info says an average of 78.6 with a min of 68 and a max of 100.6  Agreed on the question of accuracy of these things tho.

Does it actually measure the temp or is it just transmitted info from a weather service?

Nothing transmitted; just what the device registers.  They don't seem super-accurate, but if it's 98 or 106; either way that's hot as Ball$

@Jules I think that's what the display should show as the temperature readout. "Balls" or "Not Balls"

I think they're more accurate than we would like. Those high temps are often produced while we are on the Tarmac, which absorbs sun and radiates heat like crazy. Ambient air temp might be lower, but near the Tarmac it's closer to what the Garmin shows. That's why it always sucks to stop moving (including when stuck at the start line of road races) in the summer.

@Joaquin could very well be.  I was thinking specifically of this stage (Devil's Kitchen) at TOC in '12... we were all riding along with the same Garmin's and everyone was within 5 degrees but all seemed different - that said, it was a merciless day.
