Grinder of a ride today with John and Josh Meny et. al. I was afraid we had Josh on the ropes about halfway through, but he hung with the pace and kept us honest on the longer climbs even though we finally discovered near Rockland he was riding with one bottle cage ("hey, do you guys have any water?") and a rubbing rear brake. Also, big ups to David "you guys really are lost" Stokes, who held our hands through most of the backroads and provided us with retard-proof instructions up to Rockland.
Would have been nice to have Owens stay on for the whole ride to push it over into a full-on heatstroke debacle, but he suddenly became scarce after running into a blond female cyclist friend. Valid excuse.
Also, to set the record straight, the second half of the cool dirt-road route came to me courtesy of Nathaniel Miller last week. Props.
