BB @ 8am for me too.
I'll join the 8am BB crew.
Nice crew!

I too will be at the bridge at 8. I'll be making a call as to where to go from the GW when we get there. 70 or so hard miles roundtrip from Brooklyn is cool for me but don't want to go much longer.
I plan to meet Brooklyn crew on bike path at Houston St heading north
Who's riding tomorrow? I'd like to do a longish day.
really good times today

JP led us through the wild of suburban NJ, dragging us a series of short sharp climbs.

half of us broke off after 75 minutes and let Ryan J drag us home - he must have been working out some ghosts from his past, cause the dude was hammering

we got home FAST

also, we tried the absolute WORST energy drink ever created - they were giving it away at a promotional table outside Strictly. ryan made the mistake of filling up both bottles, rather than taking the 2oz cups they were offering.

you could really taste bigfoot's dick!
It was an awesome ride

Yes - that energy drink. I think it was called "Kranked." Do not, under any circumstances, ever drink that stuff. Horrible.
it was like Dimatap, Lemon Juice and Campari mixed together
Its still in my bottle. Its warm and the little coconut floaties from the bottle's previous contents are floating in that putrid red liquid.
Glad I had begged off on 9W or I'm sure I would have stopped at the store with you and done the same as Ryan. Thanks for waiting for me, you guys are all super strong.
That drink, almost instantly, made me want to shit in my shorts.

You guys that had to turn around missed an awesome day. There were more seriously painful, chain-dropping climbs. Plus some nice twisty descents, including a sketchy one were I had to go into the oncoming lane or risk wiping out on some glassy, gravely stuff in the middle of the road. Norm gets the KOD (King of the Diesel) award, for cranking out serious watts, and making up ground on the longer climbs. I craftily stole a few of the shorter steeper KOM points, by using leg speed, momentum and my knowledge of the roads to eek out victories over my stronger teammates. Nathaniel was literally cursing me out (something like, "why would you mother fuckers take us on these roads on such a hot day?!") on Mountain View road near the end-ish of our ride, but then like 90 seconds later, found strong legs and went on to half-wheel JP the rest of the way home. Andy was our Cadel Evans and road near the front on all the hard bits. Plus, he and Norm, turned around to ride with me home when I had to stop on 9W because of serious cramping. JP just got stronger and stronger throughout the ride. It was a little disgusting frankly. My legs were officially done about 1/2 way up Mountain View road. Ironically, it was I who suggested this harder way up Clausland Mtn, because, "why not?"

There was some discussion of weight loss, sodium depletion, etc. For the record, I drank 3 large bottles of water, 1 liter of coke during our beverage stop, cramped up in all kinds of wonderful ways. And lost...wait for it: 5lbs from what I weighed this morning.

Tomorrow, similar mileage, your basic "apple orchard" ride, but EASY pace. This is a strictly fat burning ride for me. Leaving from the Jersey side of the GWB at 8am. 1 hour earlier than usual. Slow ride.
Vitamin water...
It seems to work.
I meant smart water. I didn't have any today.
I'll be at the bridge at 8 am tmrw... I'm had to help my brother move out of his apartment this evening, walking up and down stairs seriously hurts
A very nice ride today. 98 miles for me, and I'm sure Nathaniel hit the 100 mark.

Thanks JP, for leading the long tour through the garden state.
Andy and I went out to the Apple Orchards today. We started 1 hour earlier than usual, in part, because my plan was to ride it slow and that kind of mileage was going to take time. A side benefit to starting early was that it was actually pretty cool and shady for much of the ride. The last couple of hours the sun was beating down though.

Andy asked a good question on the ride I thought I would share with you. Namely, after our hard ride on Saturday, since we were riding easy (my "easy," not JP's "easy"), would this ride be considered a "recovery" ride? If we were going to go two to three hours or so, maybe to Piermont and back at that pace, then you could consider this an active recovery day (my active recovery days are often just 1 hour in the saddle, fyi), but since we were going to spend 5 hours in the saddle, the physiological toll that that distance/time would put on our bodies would take it way out of active recovery zone, even if we were going slow all day long.

We took Little Tor, stopped at a gas station with a soda fountain (big gulp yeah, boy!) and chips, refreshed and continued on our way home. Good day, getting hot though, enjoying AC now.
Who was the crazed maniac headed NORTH on 9W at 6:15 pm?
That is some serious Hard Core...

You just gave away the recipe for my favorite summer cocktail, the bigfoot schlong. the recipe is as follows:

1oz Dimatap
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
2 oz Campari
Ice

Fill a highball glass with ice. Throw the dimatap over your shoulder. Rub the lemon juice in your eyes. Add the campari to the glass, stir vigorously and garnish with a slice of orange.
Anyone want to join me in a recovery spin this afternoon/evening?
i'd love to, but I expect I'll be working a bit late.

Where and when?

I'm heading out around 6:30, I'll keep an eye out for you guys (or ride backwards for a bit).
I'll be up there in a few as well.
Good times for the orange haze tonight - park was fuller of freds than a Flintstones convention, but it was dry (mostly) and nice to see some familiar faces. Peter B from TOC came down from Salem or some such to race with us; settled for a quick group ride and some spirited sprints up the hill.

Managed 20 seconds over 800 - bodes well for Thursday if the weather holds.
@ Jules: "Managed 20 seconds over 800"? Time to zero the PT torque:)
Umm, I can do that.
@Stephane: BURN.
800 is the just the beginning... it's a long time between now & "Battenkill, the Revenge"
