So, who wants to help me crack 3000kj this Saturday? I think Patrick Grehan is considering the adventure.
Stay tuned. I'm leaning heavily towards a 5+ hour, 87-mile ride, and for the sake of not getting home too late, thinking 8am GWB.AustinWelsh said:Is it the usual Mark, 9am jersey side of the gwb?
The traditional Orchard ride is about 70 miles. Last time I did it with a small group, I got back to the bridge in about 4.25 hours of riding. Not including the water stop. Not sure you'd make it back to BK by 1 even with a 8am departure.Adam Fabian said:Marc - are you thinking orchards? I could be up for that, but I'd need an early departure -- say 8 am GWB -- and a solid pace to make it back to BK around 1.
I will be there, thanks
The "boring" way to do an Orchard ride with us, is go to the Orchard, then turn back straight around. The road that leads to the Orchard, if you turn around and take it "to the end" it dumps you back on 9W, turn right, stay on 9W through Nyack, etc. It's not as fun/varied as the usual return trip, but...an option?Adam Fabian said:Yeah, it would definitely require a brisk pace. I did it last summer in a bit under 6 hours, but that didn't include the water stop. For me, that was a 98 mile ride, and it was a hammerfest for the most part. I'd like to think I'd be able to find my way back home if we started out together, but reality might be another story.
I forgot about that route. What kind of pace are you planning to ride?Marc Bertucco said:The "boring" way to do an Orchard ride with us, is go to the Orchard, then turn back straight around. Are you going ahead with the clinic guys? I'm in whatever you guys decide to do.
Thanks for the clarification. I missed that Dale was going to lead a Skills/Tactics workshop. Dale is super experienced and knowledgeable. Highly recommend riding with him if you aren't up for the long haul.David Yang said:To clarify, there seems to be 2 rides happening tomorrow:
a) Marc's Long Haul - 8am GWB, NJ side meetup
b) Dale's Skills and Tactics Workshop - 9am GWB, NJ side meetup
No offense to Marc, but go for the clinic with Dale and John. You've got the firepower in those legs already so get some enhanced skills to go along with it!SeanMiles said:Decisions Decisions...I really hate them

Heavy rain cancels.
None taken. I agree. You can learn a lot from those two. I'll be doing these longer rides for the next few weeks.David Yang said:No offense to Marc, but go for the clinic with Dale and John. Glad you are ok!
