Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

a few photos from today...

Nice group ride today. Brian and I split off at Piermont and went to the Apple Orchard. We were both fairly smoked from our Saturday efforts, and the sun was starting to beat down pretty good, so we actually kept the tempo pretty moderate.

FWIW, next weekend, I'm not racing and looking to get in at least one "bag-o-hammers" ride! Hopefully I can get some company. Maybe might try to hook up with a hybrid KCC/Sommerville Sports group?

Oh, also...on the group ride Brian and I discussed how he used to be collegiate roommates with this guy...

Marc - minor correction. My roommate was Isaac Howe, not Alex Howes. Both talented cyclists. I believe Isaac is still racing although haven't talked to him in years - good roommate though.

Thanks for the ride. I was stretched a bit beyond my current fitness in terms of mileage, doing about 100 miles round trip from Brooklyn so thanks for setting a mellow tempo on the way back.

Cool 2CV pictures, I guess Bastille day is fast approaching.

woops, this guy:

Hey, me again. Need a long-ish tough group ride this Saturday. Anyone up for rotating pacelines on the flats, ballistic on the climbs, regroup coasting on the downhills, rinse, repeat?
@Marc Bertucco as long as I can draft you at the bitter end, I'm in.

Awesome! If we can get another 2 or 3, this will be perfect. If I don't hear from any more Kissenas, I'll reach out to our friends on Sommerville Sports too.
I'm a maybe. Will depend on whether or not I can get out of bed to race.
I'll be there for as long as I can hang .... I assume standard meet at BKB @ 8am, GW @ 9am?

Actually, not quite the standard time...one hour earlier. My wife has a thing, that means I have to be back earlier in the afternoon. I've put out the message to our ex-KCC buds too. Although I expect many/most will be racing, I do know that a couple of their guys hate getting up fuh-early for racing. So, say, if we get a Konrad to join...yikes, be ready for some PAIN. I'll report back here with any updates.

But right now, the plan is GWB depart 8am for either a 62 mile Jersey Wormhole ride, or a 72 mile trip to the Orchard.
Hey Marc,  I'm in. Scott I can meet you at BB at 8
Dale, let's meet at BB at 7am to get to GWB by 8am

(unless, of course, you have a magic carpet ride, then 8am at BB it is :) )
And Sunday?

I'm thinking of starting on the Kissena Traditional and then veering off.  Possibly north of Rockland Lake and back.  I'll want to put in a tempo ride once leaving the group.
Argh, 8am at GWB makes it painfully early.  Everybody wants to go then? Nialls?

I don't "want" to go then...but have to be back by 1pm. 70 miles, factor in a beverage/food stop (necessary in this weather).

That said, others want to go later, don't let me hold up the party! But I'll be moving along at 8am. Sorry...
Sunday is the NYC Tri. Much of the west side and CP will be no-go.

Come up the east side then.  I think Madison is pretty lightly traveled that time of Sunday.
@Dale Suttle feel your pain. 7am is early for a saturday. then again marc knows all the best routes :)

Looks like scattered rain showers tomorrow all day. Blurg. Well, I've got a fender. Temp will be fine. So I'm still going. Not a fan of starting rides in the wet, but I've got a forced break from the bike for 3 days and training...training, gotta keep training for...
Fair enough.  Scott I'll plan on 7am at BB.

Good news...my wife's thing got cancelled!

Sleep an extra hour.

Meet at 9 on the GWB for the harder group ride on Saturday. Not quite bag of hammers, but pretty close. See above description.  (Bring two spare tubes and a fender if you can)

Dale, Scott, Niall...please give me a "Like" on the last post so I know you got the message!
This sounds interesting. Is there room for one more? 9am GWB tomorrow
Are you going to make it over the bridge Craig? Hope to see you
I'll be there. Thunderstorms or not I'm riding.

Can someone text Niall and Scott about new start time 9am GWB?

Just got a text that exKCC prez William Doyle Capitiman will be joining us tomorrow. Gonna be fun folks!
@Marc Bertucco i'll take that extra hour if it's going :) see you GWB @ 9. I don't have Scott's number but hopefully someone else does
