Looks like a great crew. Time for a kit order?
Or maybe my neon is just another example of what separates a racer from a rider...? Kidding. Still, it should be said that we got rained on in spite of all our feeble, weak-minded attempts to avoid inclement weather. So I hope this mugwump guy or whoever is satisfied ;)
The mugwump will never be satisfied.
Mugwump is the Unicron of north Jersey /Rockland County tarmac, eater of roads, destroyer of functional thresholds.

Transformers! [Insert totally sweet guitar squeal]
Good times today guys!! Hope all the Brooklyn peeps made it back safely in spite of the rain...

Got out for a longer ride today. Saw Brian and Scott and then a tad later JP (mugwump) on my way out. It started raining...of course. I kept going, because while I'm certainly not the guy who starts a ride in 40 degrees and rain, if I'm all kitted up and moving, I will keep going until too cold. So prepared to turn back the moment my gloves became soggy and frozen, I soldiered on. Fortunately the rain stopped and I remained mostly dry. For about 3 minutes there was even sun. It was glorious. Then it was dark, dank and chilly.

Perplexingly for me, despite regular eating/drinking before and during the ride, by the time I got out to Franklin Lakes, I was like, MUST STOP AT STARBUCKS. Two warmed 240 calorie cookies later, I was back in action.

4.5 hours or so. Can't remember exactly when I left and how much time I spent in the warmth of Starbucks cookieland.
enjoyed the ride today folks

...on the subject of training / rain...

a piece of training advice for you all... when i can't get enough time training in the rain, sometimes I do trainer rides in the shower to make myself tougher

P.S. Please don't let anyone outside the club in on this training secret... it's 97% of the reason I'm so wicked fast
Can't find the rain button in this thing...
PS yes that ironing board, eh laptop stand, is an official Zwift accessory.
You know, you can pick up bar tape for about 5 bucks a roll:

Just saying.

Working on it.  Keep an eye on your email.  Also, you MUST be a current member in order to buy new kit.
It was just me at the GWB today.  Saw one cyclist coming into NYC on my way over the bridge.

I actually was overheating much of the ride.  I dressed as if it wouldn't get any warmer.  It got much warmer.  Took my rain jacket off pretty quickly.  Put it back on as I got to Nyack on my way north.  Took it off at about the same spot going back.  Put it on for good at Closter Dock on 9w; the downpour had returned.

Saw three cyclists, each solo, going north on 9w.

Nice ride with my thoughts.  The fog was pea soup thick at the tops of hills and on much of the way south.

hope others got out.  Just about everyone masters the shower in the first 15 minutes.
Didn't exactly get out to ride today, but I did maintain some semblance of team color... and hey - smaller frames are faster, right?

@Adam i can get at least another year out of that bar tape! that's another $5 for my retirement.
New bartape is the single best trick I know of for making your bike feel new again.
I actually have white bar tape and hoods that I ordered last December with the intent of making things a little more matched with the Kissena kit. Anyone want to nip round and finish the job for me? Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes of your time!

I'd install those the last week of March, or the week before your first race.

Until then, I'm sure Redbeard has some cheap tape that will do.  Use this roll as practice.

Just read this quote from Vandivort of CRCA-Healthwarrior about their group ride last weekend:

"I spent this past Saturday attempting to adjust back to skinny tires as a big team crew rolled out across the GWB. As luck would have it tired legs and schedule constraints meant we shed riders throughout the early stages of the ride – including all of my fellow big men. Being left with the climbers of the team made for a painful few hours..."

I don't want to be too judgey here, but for all new members of the club who are considering joining our usual Sunday ride, this is NOT how we ride. We stick together. We are a no drop ride. And if you get dropped anyway? Yeah, we wait.

So, if you can, join us for some good team building, good team riding this coming Sunday at 9am on the Jersey side of the GWB!

Sounds like it's going to rain from 7p tonight until 8am tomorrow morning :(
^ Bring the fenders, a 50 degree day in January is sweet.
If it's 50 and not 38 and raining, there is a possibility.
I'm going to plan to ride, 8am BB, 9am GWB, BUT if I wake up and it's miserable out, I will go back to bed.  That's my plan!  Who's with me?

I'll be riding in the afternoon on Saturday...12pm or later departure for Jersey wormhole. Sunday 9am GWB for the group ride + Rockland Lake extension.
Marc, if it's raining in the am, I may join you on the wormhole!

Great, I'll update you and everyone else as to my time of departure. I've go family time in the morning.

PS my coach says I can ride as long as I want, but I have to go slow, so no half-wheeling me!
 I'm in for Sunday

I'll be at Prospect at 10 AM tomorrow if anyone wants to join - 2 hrs endurance pace with some tempo mixed in there
Will be in prospect park sun around 2 for a 2hr endurance ride

Update. Saturday. Going to shoot for 12pm GWB depart. Around 4 hours of riding. Keeping it endurance, some tempo and only harder when gravity forces the issue. Let me know here if anyone will join me for the Saturday ride. #plus20 #breakthrough
Anyone still riding this am at GWB?
