Sunday.....Our Day at the Velodrome.

See you there.
At canal at 822. If I don't see u in 5 I'll roll up and meet u at the bridge.
Sean - Bruce and I are running late. I had trouble parking. Will meet you at the George Washington Bridge.  Probably 20 minutes late. You can  leave if you have to
No worries. I'm a bit late myself. The south side bridge entrance is closed but I'll be waiting there
Here's my cell in case. 518 588 9679
The best HTFU ride I've done this year so far.
20 minutes behind schedule because of parking in a hard town, cold temps in a massive headwind, the GWB South closed with each rider yelling at us it was closed, and when I asked about the North side, they said that was closed too.
Patrick and I met up with Sean.  We met up with Alice - good to see you.
CXing our bikes on our shoulders on the North side (because they just opened it).  Alice took off - thanks for the info about the North side opening.
And then the riding began and we followed the training schedule, because life is fluid and we roll with it.
A sprint on an uphill.
V02Max efforts on 9W.
State line sprint.
Coffee in Piermont.
Sweet spot single file tempo back along 501 - Patrick got in a solid workout pulling us.
A hard climb up Churchill.
A sprint up Unnecessary Hill - nice job Sean.  Looking fast, from what I could see behind you. . .
CXing back along the North side of the GWB.
2 one minute all out efforts on Riverside Drive.
1 one minute all out effort on the Manhattan bridge.

My legs are buzzing.  I just ate too much.  I'm going to pass out for a while.  67 miles and a couple of PRs.
Good riding with you guys, the day shaped up nicely.
See y'all at the Kissena Velodrome tomorrow morning!

It's going to be fitness and skill and team work/play.  You'll get a workout, but you'll also gain so much more.
The NYC half marathon is tomorrow so the Manhattan crew may want to reevaluate where to meet, the park will be shut down.

Will, thanks.  Dodged one bullet.

Why not at the CPW entrance to Tavern?  Same time?

That should be good, might be a bit tricky getting east since we'll have to cross the marathon route but maybe it'll be fine. 8am?
yes.
Meet Kissena Ride (MKR) this Saturday at 9am!  Please show your support of our growing team by joining the ride.
Going to ride river road, alpine, and Bradley Tweed tomorrow. 8am BB, 9am GWB
Nevermind, going to watch the end of the men's race and ride in prospect since I didn't hear from others! You all are probably racing!
Sunday April 10th Saturday April 9th - not seeing much in the way of local races and thinking about making a run for Bear Mountain (cc everyone racing Battenkill). Any interest?
yes! @RileyHoonan

@RileyHoonan Could we do Saturday 9th? I'd like to race track on Sunday.
Totally James, taking a second look at the calendar, the 9th actually works even better for me, assuming there are no objections let's do that
I am recovering from a cold, so tomorrow, in lieu of prospect park or racing, I'll head to Cunningham Park and ride my cyclocross bike.

Start around 9:30am there, we'll ride for about 2:30 hours. Rain cancels.

Any takers for Sunday ride?
No one rode yesterday?

Weird.

I went out at 11:30.  The GWB was closed on both sides, so I headed to Westchester.  There was snow in the shade there, and several roads were closed due to fallen trees and downed power lines.  Made it to Scarborough past the Rockeller parks/estates/preserves.

I thought I'd get a headwind on the way back, but then, the wind switched and I had a tailwind that lulled me into complacency--and then the wind changed and I had a headwind.
I raced at the velodrome yesterday. I'll put a report of my races up a bit later. It was cold.
I did a lap in the park on Sunday, over downed tree limbs and planed roads.  It seemed like a good day not to be riding.  That said, I was out Saturday for 3 hours in the rain and then had to run my hands under hot water so I could unsnap my helmet buckle.

Bruce,

next time just shower with your helmet on. those holes in the POC are big enough to fit a full bar of Ivory soap.
Looks like the saturday bear mountain crew has shifted to a sunday bear mountain crew. I won't be able to join but looks like an awesome day for it.
i signed up for the next L&C PP race. I never ride in PP so i was thinking of heading there tomorrow morning for some recon laps. anyone interested in showing me all the secret lines to take?
I'm probably going to ride long tomorrow, looks cold again :( but sunny hopefully! Let me know if anyone is interested in joining.
Jill - I'm in for long ride. I'll be at BB @ 8
I"ll be there.  Going long myself.

Will,
Why not do the regular Sunday ride, then amble back to brooklyn with the folks who live there and cajole them into a lap or two where they do that?
