Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

@DanSztanga . Yes, we will have to regroup after crossing the bridge. It's a small price to pay. Meeting at the spot I recommended, will be a good spot for briefing both the start and the end of the ride. The NJ side of the GWB bridge is VERY loud. We need to be able to hear each other talk.
The Kissena ride will forever meet at the NJ side of the GWB.

I appreciate this discussion, it is kinda awesome. Found Patrick's post very good.

Keeping it basic, KISS style:

1. Have fun
2. Know where your team and club mates are at all times
3. Do not leave the ride, or drop anyone, without first making sure everyone's ok and knows what's up

There's more nuance, sure, specially around how to actually ride as a group. But that's mostly it.

I suppose there's one more KISS point:

4. If you join a kissena group ride, be ready to be self-sufficient, be sure you can hold the pace and distance, bring the food you'll need, and tools/spares for basic on ride repairs.

Dotan, we can discuss your ideas on more details once we ride together, I like where you are coming from, but some appear like solutions to problems we do not have, and I'd be careful about causing confusion. Check Patrick's post.

Simply: We meet & regroup at the NJ side of the GWB. There's no need for GXP files to get to Piermont. Generally, Kissena weekend road rides start at 8am BB/9am GWB. The ride leader is not responsible for anyone's safety, everyone is.

What are the plans for this weekend?

I'm wifeless and childless this weekend, and I intend to take advantage of that.
Weather for Saturday is a "wintery" mix (rain/sleet/snow) so was considering some rasputista practice (gravel) if anyone fancies it?

Sunday is looking cold but dry so up for "banking clicks" over the GWB.
Due to time constraints and a need to be outside, I plan on getting rowdy on Saturday on a chunky wheeled bicycle
hoping to get out on the cx bike saturday morning sometime. cunningham?
Definitely no shame in getting shelled by Mike M. On the list of things to make you go faster I think you're ignoring the obvious name change...

Thinking of doing this on Saturday, train back.

Any other takers? No snow until 1!
I hear Zwift calling my name
9AM gwb Sunday (tomorrow); 40 degrees and sunny

9w to piermont (warm up coffee stop)

Gentleman's pace for some quality base miles

Got hit with some snow on my way back from nj today.  They were dousing the bridge with an abundance of liquid ice melt.  Rising temps and rain tonight should give us decent roads in the morning.

Hmm... sounds interesting...
Keen to ride - thoughts on CX bikes if still snowy?
After crashing due to my 3.5 hours in the cold this morning, I have to see how I feel in the morning. Hoping to make it.
I’m maybe hitting cunningham on the MTB

It looks like we can’t cross GWB.
Hmm. Let’s see if they open it up by 8am. Y’all may be doing park loops
I’m happy to lead some folks on a ride around the north shore of Long Island tomorrow morn, but I suspect most of you wouldn’t have an easy way to get to Little Neck

Going to go back to bed and head to PP for 0900
Good intel regarding bridge closure. I am pulling the plug on today's 9AM gwb.

Not sure who all has MLK day off, but I am free to ride tomorrow
I’ll be at the park, 9am
As of 8:04am, the PA hasn't updated their closed email of 7:01am

I think I'm going to get to the GWB by 9,and make the call then.  Maybe I'll be in CP, maybe just head home and see about riding monday.

Yeah, just got here to PP. Doesn’t look safe, super icy. I’ll go back home a do a free roller. So disappointing long/alone weekend :(
Sorry to hear about the canceled rides. FYI there’s a half marathon going on here in CP.

Rich and I did the dam thing (pun intended) yesterday, going up from BK to Croton via the OCA. Conditions were cold as but otherwise good! Until we got to the actual dam...
My Garmin died about 3.5 hours in, so check Rich’s Strava for the specs!
Central park road is clean. If you can wait until the half marathon ends around 11:30
I rode to PP and did a lap. It was still too wet and icy at 10:30ish went I got there. Then some clouds came, the wind picked up, and it got a bit colder so I decided to head back.

I was one of 4 bikes in the park.

@RobertMullen that ride looks awesome. I'd love to join some time. Is it road bikeable or do you need chunkier tires?
