Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

So, @RobertPeras and @PatrickGrehan came out for my Northport/Huntington/Cold Spring Harbor loop along with another friend. I think we got a good ride in a hair under 60 miles, with over 3000 ft of climbing, relatively short punchy hills.

I’m planning on meeting at GWB Sunday at 9am. Forecast looks good!
See you at GWB
Nice gang and incredible weather.  don't know why we didn't have more folks out today.

Seven of us headed out from the bridge.  New guy on Fuji (forgot you name, if you put it here now I'll probably never forget it) James, Niall, Patrick, Ricky, Tommy, me.

Had a nice sprint for stateline, led out by Ricky.  We split in two at Sparkill, with myself, Ricky, Patrick, and Fuji heading to Bradley.  There, Ricky and I continued north.

We tried to keep it controlled, but fast.  Did a decent job of that  We were able to pace ourselves so we were just about blowing up at the top of the longer hills.  Ricky was getting the better of me at the end, though at Stateline on the way back, he suggested we take it easy up the next hill, so we could ride a hard pace line home once we got to the scout camp.  Easy was "easy"  We dialed it back to 90%.  Picked up Keith Snyder after scout camp and the three of us tried to do 1m pulls all the way to the sprint in Fort Lee.

BAck at the GWB at 11:50.  That's pretty brisk for this time of year.

The only fly in the ointment was some guy we picked up in Sparkill.  He seemed to be noodling along, but when we passed him fast, he ducked into our draft.  Didn't say a word.  Didn't ask to join.  But when we got halfway up stateline, he attacked us.  We caught him at the top.  And passed him.  He waited another mile and attacked us again.  This went on repeatedly, were he'd rest, attack us, gain a few seconds and we'd catch him.  So annoying.  We probably should have said something, but I didn't want to waste time and effort trying to convince the guy of the right thing to do.

I have a new ride I need to put some miles on and I’m hoping to do so on Sunday. It’s gravel-capable so I’m into something that includes that but it’s the conclusion of my do-everything-bike quest so roads are fine too. I just want to get out and ride some bikes with some people!
Hey folks, @DanSztanga and I are hitting Prospect Park at 10 am. @Matt Budofsky @RichPolk @DotanGreenvald are you guys coming at the same time?
Yeah buddy- I’m gonna head to the park in a little bit
You guys on slack?
Yea
Sun 3/1 8AM BB/ 9AM GWB

We will bask in our glory (KCC brought the noise at Branchbrook today), get donuts, talk about future domination.

See you on the road!
Nice group out there.  don't think I knew everyone.  Someone have a head count?

When the group turned right for Piermont, I went left for more hills.  Had Marc Bertucco for company.

On our way back, we were joined by prospective-type people:  Bobby (the guy with naked knees) and ? Mike? (guy on Trek), whom we passed at Sparkill.  The four of us rode a pace line home.

We got faster and smoother as we went along.  our only annoyance was not one, not two, but three wheel suckers we picked up.  They attacked at that little kick by the golf course in Tenafly, and we kept our composure and rolled them back.  They, true to form, didn't know what to do, didn't want to pull, so attacked us again.  It wasn't worth it to ride with such dopes and bad bike handlers.  If someone is pedaling at 70rpm and can't ride in a straight line, he's both overgeared and a menace.

Think I might be ready for the racing season to begin.

was cold but so fun!!

The picture with the dude eating the chip while staring at your bike is lengendary!
Really enjoying this place lately

Me too

Balthazars after ride?

I didn’t know I rode with such fancy people
Anyone interested in doing a lil dirt road randonee tomorrow? I don't have anything specific in mind but hoping to ride somewhat longish on the cross bike. Rasputitsa approaches..

Yes, count me in!

been thinking of redoing the roam ride — you guys wanna drive out? https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30363957

if not the roam, still will probably join
that looks awesome! drive or metronorth, i'm up for that, and flexible on departure time
The roam looks/ is awesome. But any interest in this route? It's from NYCC, hits some real fun roads and is a tiny bit closer than Roam

Also cool with doing something more local if more people are interested !!
dirty jerz route sounds cool too! @eloy what do you think? by the way, file treads or mixed, for either of those routes?

Are you guys planning this for tomorrow or Sunday?
I had to change plans, and now plan to go long on Sunday. Will probably aim to do the Dirty Jerz ride.

Saturday will probably do a few laps in prospect park.
Anyone up for the GWB Ride tomorrow? Looks like a beautiful day!
Any interest in pushing back the GWB ride slightly to make up for daylight savings?
I'm down. I'd prefer the regular 9:00 at GWB start, but I'm willing to start later if others prefer.
Let’s just keep the regular time in case anyone else wants to join. Sound good @JonathanAdler @TommyYork @Joe Matunis ? Bb at 8 gwb at 9

I'm going to do this ride on Sunday. I have room for two more in the truck if anyone wants to join. Leave Park Slope at 8:00.

FYI, bikes are going to be secured in the back of the truck with bungee cords. We can put blankets between them to avoid scratches, etc... but just be aware that I don't have a rack at the moment.
