Group Ride (Sat & Sun)
We are approaching that special Sunday in America where everyone stops what they’re doing to tune into the marquee sporting event of the year- The Super Bowl Century p/b Kissena Cycling Club!
Unfortunately, there is no way to ride as a group and ensure the safety of our teammates, families and community. BUT there are no CDC guidelines against riding 100 miles on your own! Thus, this year we are pushing the first ever…

Kissena Super Socially Distant Super Bowl Century
(The Weekend of the February 7th)
The proposal to you all is to do what we do every Super Bowl Sunday. Go and ride your damn bike for a long time! Like many of the gravel events that have gone virtual this year, you'll ride on your own and will shoot for either 100 miles or 100km. You can ride indoors, outdoors, dirt, tarmac, uphill, downhill, wherever! This year, you get to make it your own and creativity is encouraged. Be on the lookout for some organized virtual opportunities to chat with friends. We may be separated but we’re not alone!
When you’re done, post on the KCC Forum or on Slack with your ride link, a short description of the adventure you had and a few pics! If you’re not cool with it being shared on the KCC socials, please indicate that somewhere (don’t worry, we won’t post your home address)!
EVEN BETTER YET: If you participate in the KSSDSBC you'll be entered into a raffle with the chance to win a free Kissena jersey! You get 1 entry for 100km and 2 entries for 100 miles.
Just remember to post your ride if you want to be in the raffle! You can post those here, even though we'll be group riding mostly in spirit.
The pandemic era sucks but let’s make sure we do the things we CAN do. Be safe, be smart, and remember that you represent not only yourself but Kissena when you’re out on the road!
Also, got the question about when you can do this and my thinking was opening up the whole weekend (Feb 6th and 7th) for big rides. If your personal super bowl is on Thursday, by all means get to it! We have to take our small victories, one being that Super Bowl Sunday can be whenever we goddamn please this year.
Not sure if this would work, but thought it might be pretty funny to run Zwift on the phone and do a virtual century while actually doing a century at the same time, at least for a little bit.
Do it in Central Park, while riding Central Park on zwift.David Yang said:Yeah looking outside and at the forecast, looks like the roads may not be great to spend upwards of 6 hrs on.

@PatrickGrehan and @Jeff Condon
looking sharp and we bumped into @Matt Budofsky twice

AWESOME!PatrickGrehan said:This was only my second time out on the road since my shoulder surgery last month. I took the pace easy and never got out of the saddle. My shoulder held up okay. Looking forward to more and larger group rides soon!

Possibly the hottest post since Hotlist himself…PatrickGrehan said:I’m going to be at the GWB tomorrow (Saturday) if someone wants to join

In order to resume group riding we are asking members to adhere to the following:
- Everyone in attendance must be fully vaccinated. For the safety of the group and the community, please only attend these rides if you can verify that you have received a full dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. Verification could be a picture of your vaccination card or the NYS Excelsior Pass.
- Post your ride intentions on the forum or KCC Slack before your ride. This could be something as simple as "I am going to be at GWB at 9:00, looking for a small group to ride with".
- RSVP to state that you intend to join a proposed ride. As always, please post/reach out if you are not going to make it or are running late (we would like to limit the amount of time spent grouped together, waiting for the group ride to begin). This serves to let others know approximately how many people will be attending the ride and will help in the unexpected event that contact tracing needs to occur. Again- it is expected that every member on the group ride is vaccinated.
- Adhere to CDC Guidelines while on the ride (IE: socially distance when not riding, wear masks at cafe stops, don't share bidons or snacks, be VERY mindful of snot rockets/ spit, etc). Please be respectful of your teammates' boundaries, precautions, and safety.
Of course, please use your own discretion. We have come a long way since March 2020 but we still need to be cautious. If we can align our group riding etiquette with COVID safety guidelines, we should be able to enjoy the company of new and familiar teammates on group rides.
