Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

Need to be home by 11am tomorrow so looking to get a group to roll some laps in the park. 9am, GAP, we’ll roll at a moderate pace and see who’s feeling a sprint or two up the hill
planning in being there
i will be there, too
Planning on heading up to Piermont tomorrow. 9AM at GWB for anyone interested
I don't know if we're ready for this or not, but...

...what about Sunday, 9am Jersey Side of the GWB?

Love to go with a group out the low road, over Mountainview, around Rockland Lake and then back.  keep it brisk but social for most of the way, maybe make two hills KoMs, then set a decent tempo up state line, and ride a hard rotating pace line back to teh GWB.

thoughts?

Saturday is typically screen-free here, so I won't be hopping back on until around 6pm Saturday.  I could potentially scare up a few trustworthy vaccinated riders to make it a proper group ride.

definitely sweet fun to see ourselves riding as a group again!

Looks sharp!
Guess no one will come out and play tomorrow?
Lots of fam stuff this weekend, will have to make do with some Cunningham action later in the day after lunch-ish if anyone is interested! Slack me.
Headed into Cunningham for some shady spins. Will be at the Oceana entrance around 320ish.
No people, no worries.

I thought if I left my place by 8:40, I could catch The Rocket Ride as they went through Englewood.  That was my thought if no Kissena was at the GWB.

But...

at 140th and St. Nicholas, I caught up with one Marc Mauceri.  He asked what I was up to.  I told him that.  He told me it was too late unless The Rocket Ride is on their winter schedule.  But, he was hip to ride to Lake Welch in Harriman.  I told him if no Kissena was at the Bridge, I was happy to go.

No Kissena was.

So I let him pick the route out.  It was the double back way, I suppose to The Orchard, where we then joined up with my most recent route to Harriman.

We were rolling hard.  An hour in to the ride, we were past Piermont, in Orangeburg, almost to Blauvelt.  Marc also realized we were going hard and wondered if he'd start bonking 2/3 of the way in.

When we got to Blanchard, the climb to take us to Harriman, it turned out I was the person feeling the heat.  So it goes.

We climbed to the Harriman sign, and we were 2:08 into the ride, which meant, that it was time for me to turn back.  Marc decided to come along.

First, there's a fancy bike shop/fit studio that just opened at the bottom of Call Hollow road (bottom of a 50+mph descent).  Cyclehaus or something like it.  It used to be a really lousy convenience store that I assume people from the local trailer park (yes, there is one in Rockland County) might have frequented.  Way off the beaten path, so the guy must think he's got the goods to bring people.  Filled up bottles, took a quick rinse in the sink and we were off.

We took Call Hollow/306/Saddle River Road all the way back to Ridgewood.  I realized three hours in I had only eaten half a bar the entire ride and nothing in my pockets seemed appetizing.  Should have forced down the Gu and the rope, but I didn't.

Finally cracked climbing back up through Englewood.  Should have eaten then, if nothing else.

Still, awesome ride.  Sorry more couldn't make it.

77.18 mi in 4:17:23 riding time.  4566' climbing. And we spent most of the ride side-by-side chatting.  If we had traded pulls the whole distance, or even half, that would have been much faster.

Three days , amazing location , blessed 😩 with amazing weather ,day1 @PatrickGrehan took me on his “Lachlan Morton “ride

Day two @Jeff Condon took us on a amazing 100k route

Me and @jim_nelson  hung on until the last brutal 3 mile climb up smugglers notch .then Saturday
on mountain bikes , that we rented from Ranch camp in Stowe !
Legs are burning 🔥

Want to get this on people’s radars earlier rather than later since Memorial Day Weekend plans go fast.

Planning on doing a big ole ride up to bear Saturday. Thinking the route will go through NJ on the typical KCC roads, then clauseland over the top of Tweed and drop into Nyack. From there head to rockland lake, do a lap or 2 around the lake (I’m a sucker for nostalgia), head up to the orchards afterwards, eat some donuts and mini pies, then make our way to bear. We’ll stop at the Cove Deli (cash only!) and then shoot down 9W back to the bridge.

I did a version of this ride last Labor Day- it’s a long but fun day in the saddle. 100+ miles from Brooklyn and about 8-9k feet of climbing! RSVP here if you wanna join and meet at Brooklyn Bridge at 7am (for those heading out from Brooklyn) and GWB at 8am
@Matt Budofsky I'm hoping to join at least for the typical KCC route. My fitness level is scraping the bottom so will see how I manage to figure out when to turn around.

will join for a portion
sounds great! i will join
Same here! Just did this ride two weeks ago. See how Im feeling Saturday but definitely good for at least Nyack
@Matt Budofsky will join for at least a portion at GW.
Weather is not looking fantastic on Saturday so gonna play it by ear. I’ll post here if any changes
Just commuted home in the rain. It was cold, it was wet, it was absolutely unenjoyable and It seems like this is gonna be the weather clear through until tomorrow afternoon. SO if it’s raining in the morning, the bear ride is a no go and I’ll be Zwifting instead. I’ll check here and if anyone is down, I’ll set up a group Zwift ride instead

Will keep an eye here, but if the rain is not awful would be down for some NYC spring laps in Prospect Park ;)
I think I'll be riding outside regardless.  But won't hold to a time.
Still looks pretty rotten out there this morning where I'm at. Might have to settle for Zwift today.
Checked the weather channel radar and we’re gonna some good rain this morning. Let me know if you wanna meet up in Zwift!
Word up. I'll be hitting up Zwift around 8a. Courses avail today are Zwift, Makuri Islands and Central Park - will probably hit up Makuri since I haven't ridden it a billion times yet.
I’ll go find David in Makuri in a little bit...
My bad- just saw this (ended up sleeping in much later than I have in a long time). Gonna hop on Zwift in a half hour-ish.

@mugwump good luck out there! It looks cold and nasty
Eloy is razor sharp. Left me in the dust going up the temple climb. All the #basemilesbros adding up to good form! Super fun times, wish we were on the road instead but will settle for virtual rides in this weather - an option we didn't even have a short while ago!
Defiantly a black sock day, lifeguards busy out in the Rockaways

It didn't seem that nasty; it seemed in between the Gabba jacket and the full-on waterproof jacket.

I was weighing the pros and cons of each when I got a call that the Sunday plans I had were cancelled.  Now I'm free to ride Sunday, so I decided to ride rollers today instead.  Haven't been on the treadmill in quite a long time and it's the end of a rest week.

Lucky for me, tomorrow looks worse.  Think it's a rain jacket and neoprene glove and bootie kind of day.
