Can't do it anymore. Sorry for the late notice.
Anyone up for riding Sunday and/or Monday? Will probably do Piermont Sunday and maybe MetroNorth to New Canaan/Stamford and do 70 ish miles in CT Monday
@mugwump on my way
Tomorrow July 4th. Brooklyn Bridge 8 am. GWB 9 am.

I am planning River Road and then head back, you can keep going to Piermont or try to convince me to join you.

Just in case, BB 8am meets in the Brooklyn side. GWB 9am meets in the Jersey side.

Wear Kissena colors and kit. See you then.
Oh important: you must be vaccinated to join.

i'm in
I'll meet you on the Jersey side of the GWB at 9:00.
Hi. Hitting the trails tomorrow July 4th. Glacier Ridge 10:30 am, I'll ride for 2 hours. I can start at a different time if I have company. I must be done by 1 pm. I'll possibly ride East Setauket Monday morning.
James met me at the bridge at 10:20.  He suggested going out to Ramapo.  Seemed like a good idea.

The rain went from drizzle to mist to drizzle to dry to drizzle to sun.  Roads were wet the whole time.  But it was warm enough not to need a rain jacket and humid enough that it was still a bit sweaty.

James' seat tube cage came off in Englewood.  Weird.  He took the bottle, put the cage on it and it fit in his center pocket.

We were making our way through Ridgewood when I told James that we were taking the second right turn, and then we'd climb for about a kilometer.  he said he was looking forward.  When we got to the turn, I think I said here's the turn, I started to turn and James didn't.  My derailleur took out three of his spokes.  He crashed on the wet and his wheel's push caused me to do a 180 through the corner.  Somehow I held it up.

We examined the result.  The wheel wasn't rideable.  Maybe the local shop, which was almost in view could have replaced the spokes in time to continue riding.  Maybe not.  James opted to take the train home.  I felt terrible.  I can see he made it back.  Hope he's not put off when it comes to wormholes, or riding in the rain.

I cut the ride a bit short.  Here it is.

I find that riding in weather like yesterday's can be awesome or it can be miserable. Yesterday was awesome, and I was feeling great, and JP was taking us on some new-to-me roads, including a super sweet cobbled climb. Bummed to have missed the rest of it.

After a year of solo rides with a Wahoo Bolt beeping for every turn, falling on my butt was a silly reminder to fall back a little when on unfamiliar roads in order to have time to react and follow actual people. I am so glad I didn't take you down, too @mugwump

Not put off in the least by wormholes, rain, or wormholes in the rain; looking forward to more of these!

here's a pic of JP looking puzzled by it all

good times today...

four of us continued on to the orchards.

i need to figure out a way to bring a gallon of cider back home.

Tomorrow Saturday 9:30am. Glacier Ridge. I'll do two loops. That's around 3hours. Join me.
Sunday 9am GWB?
@mugwump I'm in for tomorrow! I'll meet you guys on the jersey side of the GW.
tomorrow sunday july 12 — 8am BB 9am GWB
BTW, The New York City Triathlon is tomorrow.  you might want to move over to an avenue and then Riverside Drive to avoid.
oh i’m glad you remembered!
also, I might bail, so please don’t wait for me at the bridges. Cheers!
confirming that I am bailing on the long ride.
Eloy,
     The rain never came.

Nigel, Stephen, and I went out on a route that was just a bit off the regular.  We went out Knickerbocker, then over to Montvale and into New York by the reservoirs, making out way to sickle town, straw town, and then West Nyack, before making our way past the quarry and over Mountainview, before heading back largely on the low road, with some climbing detours, so we could both get in hills and skip 9W

Good times.

@mugwump @StephenAschkenes great ride boys!
sidenote: wasn't rain that made me bail, a long Saturday night and Sunday plans made me stay close to home ;) wished I could have joined.
Volunteering at the race tomorrow morning then gonna head north (figure around 6am). Gonna head up river road, stop by rockland lake for a lap or two, head up to the orchards and then weave my way home through rockland and NJ.

Would love company from any and all vaccinated members looking for an early morning spin with a bit of pace!
@Matt Budofsky  I'm game, though I'll have to turn back before that as I gotta be back by just before 9 for childcare duties.  Want to say BB at 6:15?
@SammuelAuld Sounds good!
tmrw 8bb/9gwb?

In. Glad to see you are feeling better.
I'm expecting to be at the GWB at 9am.  Love to see James and others.
