Tomorrow, GWB at 9, ride up to nyack to get donuts at Boxer work our back to the bridge

Solo adventure for me today- saw @Mark Taylor and @Jeff Condon rolling back on 9W towards the bridge. Both looked super sharp

Heading tomorrow to Cunningham park on the cross bike — I will likely be on the west side around 8:30am.

Hoping to be at the GWB at 9am if I can get to sleep soon. Up to Piermont and maybe throw in Bradley Tweed if the ride goes smoothly.

t Met a friend who lives in Scarsdale and took a tour of Westchester,
beautiful weather , headed to the Rockefeller  reserve ,Mount Kisco and then up to the Titicus reservoir , Bedford hills and back 75 miles, of what my friend said will be flattish ended up with 5000ft climbing

Anyone up for the Sunday Ride?

Don't know what I'm up for.  Don't think I should be killing it on the hills, but I do want to get in three hours or so.

Aiming to make it… month off = cutting out at Piermont or Market for me.

Going for 8:00 am GWB given rain @11. 

@JohnMalcolmson  It was a bummer not to ride with you.  Or anyone.  

Not a lot of people out this morning.  Kind of wanted company because I'm not doing very well at keeping a steady effort on the flats.  

I felt some drizzle as I was climbing past Nyack College.  But then it stopped.  Kept the rain jacket in my pocket.  Tried candy corn as ride food.  Not bad.  

Saw some people riding on 9W.  Passed them climbing stateline.  Then I thought I saw someone I recognized up ahead.  Chased the guy down.  And I knew him.  Bob Marcus, ex-racer and official.  We chatted on the ride back.  Started drizzling just before we got to the bridge.  And we caught a bunch of people just as we got to the access point.

Being that it was wet, I wanted to get ahead of the group we caught.  I quickly passed by a guy on an ancient titanium Havnoonian--a custom builder who was based in Philadelphia and I think is deceased--and the bike looked familiar.  I could hear Bob talk to the guy.  It's an eminence grise in NYC cycling named Richard Rosenthal.  Last time I saw Richard might have been five years ago and he was training because he was about to go off to europe; he told me he was pretty much over riding in NYC.  Because it was turning into rain, when I got over the bridge, I headed home rather than wait.  

But I did write him.  I asked if he had been riding in Europe recently.  He got back to me, telling me that next year is his swan song of Euro' trips.  He's 83 currently and has two routes in mind, either Geneva-Nice, or Zurich-Geneva.  

We should be so lucky.

I intend to make my GWB to Piermont comeback Sunday. I am going to have to go SLOW. Like 16-18 mph max. Feel free to join me if you are looking for an easy and traditional ride

Adam, Greg, Stephen, and I met at the bridge for a nice ride up to Piermont.

Patrick, whom I heard got sick, bailed.  Missed him.

We did a nice double-line all the way there.  I hope they had a good ride back.

I decided to head to the Orchard.  So up Ash and Tweed to Bradley and mountain view.  

At the Orchard, I ran into John Podesta with some friends.  They offered me the rest of their water--and there were two half-used gallon jugs from previous riders sitting around as well.  It was a nice score.

Podesta also asked me about my crash.  Turns out, he helped me up and put the chain back on the rings.  Don't remember that one bit.  So I thanked him now.

Faded a good bit in the last hour.  But it's my longest ride in a few months, so it was fine by me.

I am hoping others are meeting up on Sunday.  Not sure of my status yet--my kids need to approve.

Hope to ride tomorrow - been stuck on Zwift to try and force myself back to a proper training schedule, but I’m itching for a decent outdoor ride. 

So I headed out to the GWB for the 9am meetup not sure if anyone was going to be there to join.

No one from 9:05 to 9:12, so I headed out on the more-or-less traditional route on my own.  I departed from the route by climbing Hillside and then descending Closter Dock, rather than stay low the whole time.  When I finally turned onto Piermont, I saw someone with an orange helmet in the distance.  I decided to find out who.  It was @RichardKaufmann , so we decided to ride out to Bradley-Tweed and then come back on 9w.  Perfect timing for me--it, barring the unforeseen, should get me home by noon, which was what I wanted.

Had a driver honk at us on the quiet road next to 303.  the driver rushed by, so much that he rolled the stop sign at the first way up Clausland and then slammed his brakes, and then turned.  We kept going.  He reappeared just before we got to the foot of Bradley.  He came by us, moved his car right to prevent us from turning, and stopped.  We came by on his left; he gave us the finger.  

Richard and I are riding back into shape, so the climbs weren't as exciting as they can be.

On 9W, I was hoping we could coalesce a fast group home.  Didn't happen, weren't many people out and it can't all be a result of CX, so we rode side by side briskly.

I just got the flu shot and wasn’t feeling great so wasn’t sure how far I was going to go but ended up feeling good. Wanted to get a bit lost and change things up so decided Glen Rock would be the destination and would figure out the route as I went. Ended up being a great ride with minimal traffic - would recommend if you’re trying to change it up!

Nice ride.  It can be great to get lost.

I haven’t been sleeping well , so wasn’t committing to a departure time .
beautiful still morning I took the trad route to Clausland , at the steep start a large dog came charging out of a garden and attacked me , I kept riding but then realized that it was hurting I stopped to look and at that moment a cop came down the hill I flagged them down , and she told me to ride back up to park entrance and get checked out
anyway ambulance came and I went to Nyack hospital,
figured it would be less hassle than brooklyn
got cleaned up , antibiotics , the cop found the dog and it had all its shots , 
i actually gave the bike a clean with wipes while I was waiting,😂
On Ride home I felt pretty good ,
