I’m in for Sunday - 8 am at BB.

Haven’t decided what I want distance wise, will see how my legs feel
Count me in for Sunday. I’m thinking Bradley tweed, then head north to rockland lake
I’ll try to join.
Looks like a potentially big ride.  Hoping others join in.

I'd like to make it, but it's my wife's birthday and my riding is based around her.
I’m in
Folks I hate to bail but it is raining pretty hard and won’t be fun to ride out there. We’ll have to do our race skills next time, at least with me.

However! If you’re on Zwift let’s get some miles in virtually! Eloy set up this kissena group ride for 9 (thank you!).

Going to end up zwifting later this morning
Beautiful out - anyone joining?
I was at bridge a bit past 9. Didn’t see anyone. Only me and the rain so we did our best. Lesson learned: not fun to go 40mph if u aren’t wearing glasses!
I had the same experience. Weather was fine after a long coffee stop in Tenafly. Went north along the lakes and back after a stop at Boxer Donut.
Too bad we didn't connect Adam and Lennart. Slack #gwb ftw!

Gear selection for the ride: Fender, Gore-tex jacket, thermal LS. Dry chamois the whole ride!?

Fredly move: almost destroying both wheels hitting a pothole in a puddle. Ouch.

FYI, coffee is back at Piermont Bikes. I wish they had seating, but please do support the shop, they've helped many a Kissena in a pinch.

It was lonely out there , but managed to get back to chambers street before the rain came
I opted to head out later.  Got wet.  One advantage of the pouring rain is not needing to clean my bike when I got home...  River road was nice, but there were signs up saying, "No cyclists until after May 8th" (one at the bottom of that torn up hill and the other at the round-about at alpine).  They even made extra sure the barriers completely cover the road, so you gotta do some CX to get through.  I'm not sure what it was all about since there was no sign of any work being done.
Anybody got plans to ride this weekend?
@Mark Taylor Im looking to ride to piermont or nyack on Sunday

MetroNorth rides incoming!

This season I am going to host several rides in Westchester/Connecticut to get us out of the city. Anyone is welcome to join.  The following are the dates for those rides (Weather permitting):
  • Sunday, June 4
  • Saturday, July 16
  • Sunday, August 20
I'll post more details for each ride as the date gets closer.  I usually catch the train around 7AM to get a nice early start to the day and so we don't get back to NYC too late in the day. You can purchase a ticket ahead of time on the MTA app or in the station.

I love this idea! Related: I’m planning a 170km ride to Poughkeepsie on Saturday and take the train back. Anyone wants to join? 8 am Brooklyn Bridge/9am GWB. Also, if someone knows the perfect route for this? Never been up there so no clue what roads to avoid.

The simplest route is the Empire Trail, which starts with the South County Trailway in Van Cortlandt Park.  I think it goes all the way.

I've only taken the Trailway up to a bit south of Peekskill.  While it's simple and direct and no cars and ride it occasionally, I find it a bit boring.  But eventually the Trailway ends and you're on roads.  Looks like they might be good.

Otherwise, you can do any combination of 9 and 9W, which is probably only marginally harder.  Of the two, 9W is a bit more pleasant at least until the Bear Mountain Bridge.
