Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

JP's suggestions are pretty good.

If I was riding it, I would go on 9W, hitting the Bear Mountain Bridge and find my way north from there. I would lean heavy on Ride With GPS heatmaps to find ok roads on the East side of the Hudson. Some of those roads are dirt/gravel, but ok on most road bikes.

Also, depending on the reason for Poughkeepsie as the destination, I would consider avoiding car traffic by leaving earlier, and returning on the train from Cold Springs or Beacon.

Regardless, send photos.
Second JP and Eloy's suggestions. I've also had good experiences with Wahoo's routing. I'm not entirely sure how they determine which roads you go on (whether they use heatmaps, ease of route, terrain, etc.) but it consistently gives me good, safe routes with minimal to moderate traffic with decent to excellent road conditions.
These suggestions are great!

No real reason to go to Poughkeepsie, except that it's a nice distance away. In terms of the route my only requirement is that it includes Bear Mountain because I've never been. If I feel tired I can always decide to take a train from Beacon or any of the stops closer to home.

Using Strava and Ride with GPS heathmaps, this is the route I built. Road on the west side of the Hudson after Newburgh looks a bit meh, so I'll cross before that.  https://www.strava.com/routes/3091856795603660350
I would cross on Bear Mountain bridge.
Here's a very quick rough redrawn route @LennartZandbergen use this as a suggestion -- I have not taken a good look at some of these roads. But basically crosses the bear mountain bridge, and then hits a climb around Cold Springs.

Awesome Eloy, thanks!!
Just another day on the West Side bike path:
A few weeks ago driving back from Long Island I was actually scared because of the amount of cars racing on the LIE
the lane weaving thing is crazy , my Son tells me it’s a THING on tiktoc
Tomorrow morning (Sunday), Brooklyn Bridge at 8am. I’ll be heading to Piermont and could be up for Bradley Tweed. Let me know if anyone plans to join me.
I'm gonna try to make it out at GWB @ 9
I'll try to make it. Between covid house (both kids) and Mother's Day, not certain.
I plan on making BB at 8, GWB at 9/9:15.
Tomorrow morning, Saturday, BB @ 8am. Most likely will do Bradley again, but I am open to doing something else. Any takers?

I'm in. I'll be at GWB at 9am
woke up not feeling so great, so go ahead without me
Did Harlem Hill rainy repeats this morning, gonna aim to join the 9W crew tomorrow, Sunday. I’ll be at BB at 8, GW 9/9:15.

After some helpful feedback last week I’ve changed up my bike fit and got a bigger cassette to make hills easier. Excited to try out the new setup tomorrow.
I'm planning on being at the bridge at 9am.

don't know what others would like to do, but considering GFNY will be on many of our usual roads, I'd love to head west.
i’ll be joining, if i can get a good nights sleep. looking forward to head west!
David Vibert, Joao, Mark Taylor, Matt Budofsky, (Marc Bertucco), and myself met up at the bridge.

As GFNY was messing with our regular route, I suggested going west.  They kindly obliged.

Beautiful, if windy day.  Fun was had, at least by me.  Hope the others had a good time, too.

I was sort of riding blind.  I'm used to having a power readout on my Wahoo, but for some reason, it wasn't working today.  It read "---" and no RPM the whole ride.  I got home, determined to figure out the problem and I can't seem to figure out anything.  When we did the big climb of the day, Matt and I rode alongside one another  until about 25 meters to go.  Matt had never done the climb before, but he had the 'climb' feature working and he knew where the top was and went for it. That was cool to see.  I uploaded the ride, and power numbers appeared.  They seem about right, too.  I deleted and added my power meter to my Wahoo and that might have fixed it.

Another great JP route on roads we don’t group ride on often. Would love to get a bigger group going out on these rides more often.

We also had a moment like the pros. We were cruising towards the climb and there was a kid in the sidewalk. He started sprinting to keep pace with us, we cheered him on, he seemed to love it. It was a nice moment to add to a good day out on the bike
Anyone up for a ride tomorrow morning?
Count me in- I’ll be at gwb at 9. I’m thinking low roads to piermont, river road to nyack and then up to the orchards (I’ll probably need to head home from orchards)
I plan on joining group ride on Sunday
