Yes! And ride with floor pumps under each arm.
Hey how about this Sunday..... I know there is that whole mother's day thing but if anyone is looking for a nice long ride, I might be available.
finals hell
I'm in the market for a long ride Sunday as well.
New Sprint Lines!

For the last couple of years, I've been unhappy with the placement of our current "state-line" sprint points. On the low road to Piermont, the road is narrow, pavement torn up and there is always lots of traffic in both directions. It's not only dangerous, but I feel like an asshole when we clog up that stretch of road. On the high road (9W), I've lost track of the number of times that I've been boxed in by speeding cars on the uphill to the NY state line. I'm under no illusion that people will stop sprinting there...but

I've been beta testing two new sprint lines that I think should be added to the regular line up of penis-measuring that goes on during our group rides, and I think they're both excellent.

Sprint line #1: Tenafly Town Line Sprint. This one will be early in the ride. After we first turn onto side streets, a few rights and left turns, before the first 40 mph descent, we are on a very wide road that was previously full of shit pavement. It's been repaved, smooth as glass and there is very light traffic. The road is long and straight, and there are no side street intersections coming from the right side of the road and only a few from the left. The Tenafly town line is actually right before a little crest in the road, so you can actually see a false horizon 400 meters before you see the sign. That gives everyone plenty of time to position themselves, go long, go short, go whatever. We should all be together at this point, giving everyone a fair shot at it. And as a special bonus, the town line sign corresponds to a change in pavement type, so even JP will have little reason to complain and/or knock down the town line sign in the middle of the night like he did on Alpine.

Sprint line #2: The Salty Kiku-man Sprint. Okay, this one is on 9W and will certainly be more familiar to you. This one comes at the end of the ride, after State Line, and a few rollers and will be contested in smaller groups as things tend to split up on state line and stays that way up the next couple of climbs. Think of this sprint as more of a small-group, Valverde-type, last-man standing sprint. Everyone from their group should go for it. That means more people get a go at sprinting. So even if you are in the third group on the road, you should try and sprint out of it for practice/pride. This sprint point is good because we've got a nice wide shoulder, the road is straight, and while traffic is going to be what it is on 9W, cars will see the madness occurring in front of them from a long ways out. From the sprinter's point of view, this one is similar to the first in that you can see the sprint coming from a long way out. The actual sprint line, the Kiku restaurant sign is hidden a bit by foliage right now, but you do see a rectangular green sign first a long way out, and that point is about 150 meters before the Kiku sign. Time to make your jump boys!

I expect resistance to these new lines, so I plan on sprinting for them every time winning, then bragging incessantly about it on the forum, until others join in on the fun if for no other reason than to shut me up.
I love it. Can you post a google map link of the first?

Sheeet....that's some John Malcolmson-level interweb shit...I'll try though later...right now I've got to do some dishes, then head out and enjoy some sun and bike riding.
is there the usual ride on sunday bb8am?
I might want to Nyack who is in?
I'm up for Sunday at the bb at 8am.
Triangle ride anyone? However I do need to be back by 12 so the ride might be cut short.
Sunday 8am BB. 9am GWB. See you there.
I'm leaving shortly for a ride in Prospect if anyone is interested, will probably stop for java after, 6-8 laps no real goals in mind for today.
We have competing rides proposed for Sunday.
1) 8am BB/ 9am GWB
2) Triangle ride at ??am

An embarrassment of riches.
Or confusion for the masses?
@ Stoke - sunday is fondo mania! I doubt we can get in a group ride.
Add to it the Tempest of TT; I'll be headed to Floyd to Flog my Flaming Feet (aka time trial practice)
All are welcome. The wind and your conscience await...
@Jules: What time will you be at Floyd? Are you leaving from GAP?
so, the Fondo crosses the GWB at 7am

i was thinking a 9am departure would be fine, but if people don't want to ride in a FRED ZONE, i understand . . . we can get our jawbone-on some other time

[tears]
@ dstokes

I haven't settled on departure time yet; probably 8am depart from GAP; that leaves enough time to have a civil coffee prior :)
They'll be long gone by 9, right? I'm down with that.
i think so

it will be fredly on 9w, but we can avoid it
It's always fredly on 9W! Thats why we ride there, right?
Jawbone
Guys, Sunday I'll be doing the Staten Island group ride, it goes on every sat & sun. Most of the guys don't race but Lance & myself usually keep the pace up high.

It might be a nice change of scenery for those who never rode on SI and are sick of the west side bike path/ 9w/ floyd/ LI.

You can catch the ferry over and we'd meet up with you right where you exit.

We start at 9 south of the ferry, you'd be good with catching the 9 am ferry and meeting up with us at 930.

If anyone is interested let me know and I'll post some other info!
I'm planning on an afternoon ride Sunday - 3pm-ish from the GWB. Hard for any Brooklynites, I know - if any locals want to join let me know.
Woj,
This sounds great and I think we could round up quite a possee to ride, but maybe in two weeks as the next two weekeds are quite booked.

@ Stokes: plans changing; call me 50/50 at best for the LI ride. Sorry for the late notice. Guys thinking of riding with me, please break glass, start thinking about plan B.
I'll know more by 5pm tonight
So is the 8am BB/pam GWB ride on for tomorrow?
