Kissena Club Championships

@ Ragot The only PT data I salvaged is 1325 max.

I have to say I agree with Bertucco's sentiment. I watched some of the video and, no offence hombres, but tactically/strategically it was a mess; strong TT guy tows bunch up to solo strong TT break; Break gives up when bunch is close; Dangling riders, left dangling? IMO if you weren't Ragot, Yaks, Rene, Lenny or myself you'd want to do anything in your power to avoid it coming down to a bunch sprint... you are the greyhounds, we are the greyhounds with a completely legitimate TUE for testosterone. Maybe some people didn't have fitness, but you can still have the plan right? Here's some douchy suggestions for next year: If a sprinter type is on your wheel on the hill, you let that gap in front of you open up. If there's a promising break and you attack to bridge, make sure you're not towing the field with you. If you're the camera guy, you don't close all the gaps up to "capture the action at the front". I think Ragot was down the back adjusting his cleats and drinking espresso until the last 500m. Winning strategy.
just want to set the record straight that i don't move myself around in a bike race in order to get better/worse gopro footage.  i really am just that dumb when it comes to positioning.  #1 goal for next season!
Ragot was, at one point, educating me and @Yang about criterium racing. So yeah he was just biding his time and letting everyone else do the work. Smart actually.
Brendan, OK, apologies, my post above is a bit jerky, although I do think it's true that there can be a subtle switch in motivation once you have a camera on your bike — check the RKO/6cycles videos!
I was surprised not to see you going ballistic with that huge sprint of yours at the end (no joke). In a club race I think all you need to do is be completely focused on sucking wheels and conserving your energy until the right moment in the race (usually in the last third) and never give away energy to your competition at no cost. Tim Krabbe says it best in The Rider: "Road racing imitates life, the way it would be without the corruptive influence of civilization. When you see an enemy lying on the ground, what’s your first reaction? To help him to his feet. In road racing, you kick him to death.". Great reading here: http://cyclingtips.com.au/2012/04/golden-rules-of-road-racing/
don't worry john, you're way too nice for me to think of anything you say as jerky.  thanks for the link.  my plan is to get a good book or two on tactics over the winter.  i'll add that website to the list.
Next year how about we switch this race to a handicap format? The women get five minutes, cat 4 two minutes on the 123's. The beauty of this is it forces riders to ride a good pace line, and the 123's have to burn a lot of matches to catch. Not sure about how feasible it is at PP — maybe a separate race at Floyd? Also, might we want medals for men and women and/or actual prizes?
We can also do a Crit Championships at FBF.
Also, separate Cat 1-2-3 and Cat 4 categories for the Championships is what we used to do.
I don't think we would have a chance of catching the Cat 4s - they are too good.

Maybe we could find a crit course instead.
Jacob riis parking lot across the marine park bridge.
Or flushing meadows.
Can you easily ride to those courses? Should be easily accessible to encourage participation yes?
Bump.

Is this happening in 2014? Yang doesn't think I can beat Ragot. I would like the opportunity to prove him wrong. Also. Cool jersey. I want it.
This might be the first year I can do it! It's always been the Saturday I fly back from Interbike in vegas at 1am Friday night, but Interbike bumped a week earlier.
I'm probably gonna win. I've been training for 1 week.
I regret to inform you that the victory will be mine.  I will be riding my new aero bicycle, pictured below:

Sounds like it's going to be at Floyd this year.
Jules, any insight on a date??
not from me.  I'm in france trying to turn my liver into fois gras
(try charlie)
Ol' Pearly creapin' on the club championships eh? I see what's going on here.
He can get a head start polishing that trophy for me...(the trash talk beginith)
I noticed no race this year for Kissena club race... Any onfo on that?

Charlie said he was going to host it at Floyd because of the race days we lost to construction in Prospect Park.
you know when?

No.
Probably next year. I have a feeling that Charlie's done promoting races for 2014.
FWIW. My first year in the club, I promoted three club championships. RR in prospect, crit at fbf and TT at prospect. Anybody can put it together to get a permit and promote the races. Large flags for finish line banners are not necessary.

Try it as it is a great experience.
Why don't we just brings some cones, a keg and a starting pistol out to Floyd....nobody would even know we were there. In fact  I'm pretty sure that's where they dumped Jimmy Hoffa.
Hell, instead of a starting pistol let's just use a real shotgun. Also, raise the stakes. Last place gets buried with Hoffa.
I'm in...but I've had my wheel chopped one too many times at Floyd....from now on I'm racing this thing out there...go ahead...chop my wheel, I dare you...
It's on like Donkey Kong.

Sorry CX'ers, no KCCChamps for you!
