Marc,
I love that shot.  And not just because its me and the shoes are  yellow.  Send it to me, please.

Looking at some of the others...

the kid: some day, I'll have Dugasts and be the hero. Today, I'm happy to Supercross with what I've got and play the hero.

BMC kid: Mud Red is a 2014 colorway.

Timmerman: Supercross rules ATMO!

I should have mentioned this earlier . Volunteers can't be just members of the club. If you have a loved one, relative, warm body etc bring them. You can get free race entries based on their labor. Rumor also has it that the Volunteer of the Year award is back

Gwynna Smith  (and others with this question)  - thanks - Myles or I will post an answer to this shortly.

Myles, sorry for another stoopid question, but I already reg'd, THEN signed up to volunteer. And I roped conned bribed gently persuaded a friend to vol with me. Can I get a refund, or am I making a well-deserved donation to the cause?

And I don't know who most of these people are, which makes this hard, but I'll bust open the Photoshop this weekend and see what spills out.

Gwynna Smith.

This is not a stupid question.  For it can be answered with a video link.

More details to come tomorrow (Monday)  on stuff we need still.

Most pressingly - if anyone has an hour or two to spare and can split a task with me - I need assistance with some research - simple stuff, but lots of it, would love to divide the task - 646-235-2336 or jcaesar.bike@gmail.com
Research was accomplished!

Ok - the first important thing we need - social media the snot out of this in the remaining 2 weeks until the race. The people that follow the race are most likely registered or planning on doing so. We get additional reach (and hopefully additional reg) when you share the race's statuses\photos\etc

Please everyone like the race on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Supercross.cup.weekend?ref=br_tf)
and follow @SuperCrossCup on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/SupercrossCup )

Like, share, and retweet this stuff. It will make a big difference.

thanks!
The big thing is Sharing and Retweeting.  If you can, please do.
All.

It appears that due to a potential conflict with darkness, we are adjusting start times for supercross by 15 minutes, both days, all races.  This change should be posted on bikereg shortly.

Hey, it's still not a 620am prospect park start...

M

Myles, and all...

I don't know if this is a possibility, but another way at combating the darkness is to combine and/or reduce the number of races.

For example, you could, as the Verge New England series does this time of year, combine the 4/5s and 35+ 4/5s for a single start time (while still offering separate podiums...or not).

And you could simply eliminate the Cat 3/4 race and move those folks over to the 2/3/4 category as the MAC series does.
that gets weird.

mostly bc jp wants to race 9 times

Oh Aaron, sweet young Aaron...racing a 3/4 race for your first cross race just might. in terms of pain levels, be the closest thing to childbirth you'll ever experience. I recommend sticking with the 4/5s which will only be slightly less miserable mostly because the race will be 30 minutes or less. And trust me, about 12 minutes in, you'll be praying for bell lap. Because...this is cross.
Aaron... Imagine the pain of a 4 lap scratch. Now imagine instead of being 3-5 minutes long, try 30 plus.

I'm registered 4/5 both days, And the club championship. If I win the hole shot I'll consider that a win and drop out. Err... Similar to my green jersey campaign. Woo!!
no, we thought about that. its a potential solution for 14. really at this point eliminating a field wasnt what we wanted to do. (last field typically retains some spectators)..

park says it's dark dark at 5pm. my guy said we should be fine as is, but if 15 min pads it for us....so be it.

The field format is part social experiment and part....? we will figure it out for next time assuredly. people must want to race cause they signed up
This may be true, I fear the 3/4s now. But if all else fails, I could just go as hard as I can and fall down half way through the race. Then lay in a fetal position and whimper in the mud about how people can actually race like that for more than 30 mins.
That's going happen anyway.
Aaron, you can just hang out with me at the back.  It will be my first time doing the barriers and jumping off my bike and all that good stuff.  Should be fun and funny.

I'm definitely interested in a mid-week skills clinic. My cx bike will be out of the shop on Sunday evening or Tuesday morning. I could do some afternoon or early evening stuff on Tuesday at Randalls or even Cunningham. There's only so much 'cross you can practice on a road bike on tarmac with your road shoes and road pedels.  Yeah. I'm gonna eat mud at Supercross.

Is there anywhere to practice in BK on weekday mornings? I'd feel a lot more confident with some remounting experience.
I'm without a cross bike, renting one day of, so I can't do much cross practicing.  I guess I could dis/mount but honestly I'd rather just do my park laps and save the joys of falling on my face for Supercross weekend

Here's an idea, if you guys could get away on Friday, come up to the course set up where I and other much pro-er crossers like Todd McLoughlin and Myles will be, then we can set shit up extra fast, then have time for practicing too!

Say it with me, TWO BIRDS, ONE STONE!

Damnit @Marc! Now I'm wondering if I could swing a "work from holeshot" situation next Friday. Three birds, one stone!
Gwynna, for folks in our neighborhood, best closest place to practice cross is [in a van] "down by the river."

Gwynna,
Riverside Park north of 158th is pretty empty and easy.  If you go to the end of the Hudson River bike path, you can then ride to the fields of Inwood Hill park on the Hudson side.  I've used those.

B'klynites,
I'd be surprised if you couldn't get Ragot or Romanow out for an early morning dis/mount session.  You can even do it in a paved parking lot.  alot is just practicing clipping and  unclipping and swinging your leg over.

Come to think of it, here's an indoor game so you get the basic motion down.  Set your bike up on a trainer.  Ideally, a drop-bar bike with mtb/cross pedals and shoes.  If you don't have the right pedals/shoes, use sneakers.

Unclip right, unclip left, swing right leg back behind bike and then to left side.  Once this is done, take right hand, place it on top tube a little infront of bottom bracket.  then, take right hand, put back on bars, take right leg, swing back, reclip.  Repeat.  Try for half of them to put your right leg in front of your left for the step-through.

No, it's not exactly the same.  Yes, it will help burn the steps into your memory.  And the less you have to learn the day of, the better.
I made a little map. I marked out two rather short circuits. I go around and around until I find the right lines and then feel comfortable taking the turns at speed. The course on the east side of the path is possible without using your brakes.

View satellite image. There are rocks to the east, a combination of rocks and trees to the west of the path.
