I have practiced in Cadman plaza right near the Brooklyn Bridge. The opposite side of the park from the turf field. Downside is that people let their dogs run around and play and you may spend some time rinsing poo off of cleats.
My first dismount and remount were on my two hot laps before Nittany two years ago. It's part of the deal.

Also, the course is open for warm-up/recon between each and every race. So if you show up early to Supercross, you can practice quite a bit before your race. (And after, if you like.)
If anyone has an old Kissena armwarmer or leg/knee warmer in size small/extrasmall/medium, Leroy and T-rex are coming to heckle you at the race! They need a sporting sweater in theme.

Ack! My Wednesday evening just got complicated. Going to have to stick to remounting practice in my front yard.
I'll be driving up on Friday afternoon to help set up. If anyone needs a ride, let me know. Also driving Sunday morning of and can take 3 and bikes.

Hey, I'm "cross" posting this (oooh, I'm so punny) from the Cyclocross thread, but I wanted to encourage more of you to sign up for the club championship race Sunday morning.

It's kind of a hoot, and even though I got destroyed last year, it was one of the most entertaining races all year. Starting from the beginning, when, we lined up in REVERSE ORDER OF CROSSRESULTS, making Ragot and McLoughlin start from the BACK ROW (because you know, make those guys work a little), then we irritated to the officials by starting ourselves and you know the racing stuff happened after that.

Which was good and slickery and painful and everything a cross race should be, except it was mercifully short making for what could be a perfect warm-up for your day's other races...

@craig. I would like to hitch a ride on Sunday if you still have room.
I'm driving up Saturday with room for 3 more. Leaving Brooklyn at about 6:30 and staying to help change the course around so back late(ish).

I'm also driving up Sunday in time for the club champs so leaving Brooklyn somewhere close to 5:15. Have room for 2 more that day. Have to leave by noonish or a bit after though cause Sarah has a piano recital in the afternoon.

my buddy will be there with his food truck:

I can't promise my trainer - still need to work out logistics - but if logistics do work out, my trainer will be there. Do you need riser blocks or can you manage without them?
If you can bring it, great.  If not we'll manage.
I'll bring my trainer up
does anyone want me to bring my rollers?
I've got a trainer I can bring.
Try the Hampton Inn, in Woodbury. It is like 10 minutes away. You might even be able to ride.

I have a nothing fancy trainer that I can bring. I'm almost embarrassed to have a pro train on it.

Also - I'm looking over the new start times and wondering how the 35+ 4/5 field will race with the open 4/5 field if the 35+ race is 10mins longer. If the two fields are effectively racing together shouldn't the race time be the same? Otherwise the 35+ guys will do their last lap through a bunch of people doing a cool down lap. Maybe I'm missing something - like getting finishers off the course immediately. Just trying to figure it out, since us old guys bump into things more easily and also fall and can't get up.
