(Myles asked me to repost this since he can't work the forum, and because science.)

Four days after Supercross and finally have banked enough sleep to think coherently. There is a tremendous list of people to thank for helping us put on an incredible event, their contributions far outweigh what I can offer as words of thanks. I'm also sorry if I've forgotten anyone, I'm sure as caffeine kicks in more will become obvious. Here goes..

Joshua Caesar thanks for helping us with all of our back office duties, online registration, day of registration, bringing your fiance, freezing your ass off, bringing your fiance to freesze her ass off, and helping out with way too much stuff for a guy with one arm. You rule.
Michael Perlberg Thanks for organizing pre reg data into useful information, printint out way too much stuff, and convincing other sentient humans to give up their weekend, and help us out at a rainy cold bikerace, and convincing your girlfriend to pick up way to much beer to fit in a very small car from kooky hipsters in williamsburg. Awesome!
Joseph Mueller, for making a great website. (www.supercrosscup.com) and constantly updating it, and adding data at the 11th hour, and for doing it all with such style.
Marc Bertucco for helping out all weekend, tearing down, and giving us write ups for the great photo's that came out of the event. Thanks!
Marco QuezadaAnthony Benavides, and others, for taking great photos.
Todd McLoughlin for going above and beyond the call of duty, helping set up, tear down, run things all weekend, fix tape, and race three times in the process. Wow. Thanks!
@jim nelson for transporting said beer, and ensuring it was kept nice and safe in his basement. Yum. And helpign out, running races, racing, and making sure @jeffrey wasnt' strafed in a drive by sunday morning.
Jeffrey White for not getting shot, showing up early, helping out. Thanks!
Jules Roazen for helping out in pits, getting people to and from, and being on site to help out all weekend with Lisa Roazen. Thanks guys!
Nikita Dorcinvil and justfinish.net for providing us with lots of help, a great arch, and moral support all month.
@alan atwood, for helping out, taking over as timer when our original guy got the plague, and being secretary for the UCI races. Thanks a!
Eric Ragot, for helping fix course, hang banners, pound stakes, and work hard all weekend with his son!
David Sanossian, for once again bravely volunteering his garage to be a staging area for a huge cycling event.
Waffles and Dinges, for selling great waffles all weekend long!
Red Bull North America, and Oscar, for such great stuff, and a bad ass truck for sound all weekend.
Rod for spinning great house music in the truck!
Kissena Cycling in general, for showing up, and taking notes. Set up, pre reg, websites, spectators.. Supercross is possible because of you guys, and again it went off pretty smoothly all things considered. Thanks

And all the racers, who have been coming to our events on Long Island for over a decade. You guys make is special, and know the extra 40 minutes in the car is worth it for fun, awesome events that are a blast to watch.

Hey want to give a shout out to one of Konrad's friends on ANOTHER TEAM, that stayed after his race IN THE RAIN, COLD, and DARK to help with course tear-down. I never got his name, maybe Nelson Martins. Anyway, he and Konrad were there working hard when they could have just as easily gone right home.

@ Marc - I think he said he's going to join the club. Good catch!

Well, it's not exactly the kind of publicity we want, Supercross does get a mention in this interview with the Shield's twins:

Well, this North Carolina interview kid ain't exactly Thom Parsons, but he's got a bit of the same swagger. Check out the question he ask Timmerman about one of his teammates:

Well, you know what they say about publicity... :)
Haha. That's funny. "How did chabonov get on the team". "You should ask him".

Tee hee

Never too early to start warding off hurricanes, right?

Just reg'd. Seriously hoping the starting line is six across - first row callup! Only time I'll ever have a clear view of the scenery! (well, the non-lycra scenery, anyway... *ahem* moving on)

So, touchy question about the Club Champs - my race is like an hour later. And there's no way I can hang with you guys even if I was racing all out. Would it be totally lame to enter for fun and some hot laps (maybe pull out after the first lap so I'm not in your way), or should I hold down the cowbell duties?
Nothing is Lame at a Club Championships... not even a one-to-go victory salute...

November is fast approaching and cyclocross season is in full swing.  With that, it can in fact only mean one thing.

Supercross

Now in it's....12th year, it's back, and better than ever.  Mo better even.  First, I'd love to thank the pre race planning committee of (and forgive me if I've missed someone) JP, Jules, Eric Ragot, Michael Perlberg, Joshua Ceasar, Todd Mcloughlin, and Jed Kornbluh for the preliminary aid, and abetting that has got us this far.

I need to also give a special thanks to handsome Joe Mueller, who tricked out our website to hitherto unknown levels.  Check it out here
www.supercrosscup.com  .

Pre registration is also live, feel free to sign up here :

We've made tremendous progress thus far, but it's time for phase two.  And we NEED your help.

2013 Supercross Cup Volunteers Needed.
-Supercross is a two day UCI c2 event, this year held at Anthony Wayne Recreation area (bear Mtn, exit 17 off the Pallisades Parkway)   Saturday and Sunday November 23rd and 24th 2013
.

With that in mind, we need a tonne of help to get the job done.  Both pre race help, and race day help is required.  Here are some links...

http://supercrosscup.com/volunteer.html
(takes you to the Supercross Volunteer page)
http://volunteersignup.org/QXKDH
(takes you directly to the Supercross Volunteer sign up page, which is reachable from the above link)

Any Kissena CC member that volunteers for 4 hrs on a day, can race for free that day. With most classes able to race 3 times per day AND an hour off in between races, bundle up and marshall for a shift in between races!

Also note, we are (Hampton Velo Club) a 501c3 organization, so we are allowed to allot "volunteer hours" or "charity work" hours towards a high school graduation, work obligation, legally imposed sentence.. what ever.

PRE RACE HELP
-Stuff we need now, and until/sporadically on Race day
-Social media organizer (post to facebook, twitter, our blog, various newsgroups, etc)
-PR Maven-get flyers/awareness out and up, deliver/emai to local shops, etc.
-Volunteer co-ordinator  (ensuring everyone is on time, signed up for the correct time slot, proper overlap of shifts, etc)

Below is a brief description of the various jobs listed on VolunteerSignup.
Please note.. consult a weather report and dress accordingly.  (Eg... if it calls for rain... have a poncho/slicker.)  Work gloves and boots are always a great idea at a cross race.

-Course set up Morning/Afternoon- This is a few hours of general Labor.  Some medium/heavy lifting may be required.  See how a UCI level cyclocross course is conceived, set up, and tested first hand.  Duties include moving crowd control barriers, to installing step in stakes to mark the course, stringing caution tape, and hanging banners, and pruning sticks.  (that might poke someone in the eye/body in the race)

Registration-just like reg at prospect park.  By and large 95% of all registration will take place online.  Check a rider license/id to ensure they are the correct person, ensure they sign their waiver, hand them their number(s), and prepare the start list to be handed off to the results person.  Reg opens an hour before the first race, and closes 5 minutes before the last race.

Marshalling-A few different jobs that fit this general category.  Positions from Course maintenance (tape repair, stick replacement), to monitoring a crossing point (ensuring a spectator doesn't walk into the race), to podium presentation (ensuring the right people get on the podiums and prizes are handed out), to runner (getting start lists to the results person, and final results to the results area. Again shift-a-ble, these duties typically start 5 min before the first race, and end 15 minutes after the final one.

Course Change Over-Post race Saturday only, help configure/test the course for the race on Sunday.  Less heavy lifting than pre race set up, but still incredibly important.

Course Tear-down- "Hey you kids get offa my lawn".. get everythign off the course, into the correct garbage cans, or back into the rental truck, clean up the area, and then act like nothing ever happened... Typically takes 2-3 hours, dress warmly, and a helmet light is always useful.

That's the quick rundown.  Again ,over the last 4 years Kissena and it's members have been instrumental in helping not only sustain this event, but elevate it to a very high standard, we're looking forward to 2013.

(posted on behalf of Myles, who is busy in his secret CX Cave plotting the most awseomest CX course ever known to man or beast... either that or drunk off his a$$ on some rare Chatteau du Someplaceyouneverbeen)
There is only one "t" in chateau, but other than that, you nailed it.
Tried to sign up to volunteer and i keep getting an error message. Is everything good with the site or could it be this wonky internet im on right now? thanks!

Same. I want to sign up but I need to figure out my ride situation first.
I'll be there all day Saturday starting at 7:30, if anyone wants a ride bright and early.
Can't be there Saturday, but I'm planning to head up on Sunday morning if anyone needs a ride.  I can take up to 3 people and their bikes (though I think the rack comfortably fits 2 bikes).
Jeff..  (And jules..) I didn't get notification that people even responded.  Thanks!!!

I'm trying to figure out what happened with the volunteer site.. did it give you some fashion of error message, and if so can you share?
Myles

@myles it seems that whatever error I was running into has gone away. Everything is good now! I can't make it up on Saturday, so I'm planning on racing Sunday and sticking around to help tear down the course.

From someone who suffered through tear-down last year in the cold rain. The more folks for this job the better. Honestly, it's kind of grueling, but if we could get a few more folks willing...
@Marc you are a born salesman...
