Bicycle Pictures and Videos

I still have VHS tapes of tv-recorded bike racing from 1985-90 or so.  Should probably get rid of them. Someone converted them to DVD and was selling them online.  I bought several.  In a fit of nostalgia, I also bought CD's of John Tesh's musical scores.

my tapes have Paris-Roubaix, the Tour, Cititour (a pro race in 1986 from Goshen NY to the UN), 1985 RAAM, 1985 Coors, 1985 Worlds, and more. All tours from 1985-90.

A friend and I used to name the hills around our college after early Liggettisms.  There was "the final rendezvous of a vicious day," "the screaming gauntlet of pain", "the road that lies like discarded string" and so on.

In the early 2000's, Espoir nationals came to Staten Island.  A friend, Kevin Monahan, who went on to become USPRO Crit champ, hosted espoirs Mike Creed (eventual multi-time national champ and journeyman pro and now team director) and David Zabriskie (eventual national champ, yellow jersey, (doper), stage winner at every grand tour), at his parent's house.  He said Creed found his cache of 1980s videos, played them, and would say the words along with Liggett.
you guys know that a ton of these are available in youtube, right ;)

Here's one from the 1995 Tour Du Pont, picked it specially because of the Tesh soundtrack #hotness

(I'm saving these in case we go back into lockdown, which is highly likely soon)

i hear the numbers, but I simply do not understand — I can’t hold anything he’s saying for even a minute

I think you can hold 400 for a minute :)

Aside from the completely transparent skinuits the most horrifying part are the number of maskless or nose & mouth out of mask spectators...

Agree , I was watching the other day , and they did one of those slow mo shots  at the start , they panned round the crowd and a lady slid down her mask when she saw the camera on her , this a country that was in mass mourning this May

Sometimes Kissena and Canadian champ Mike Garrigan has some very excellent Wes Anderson-esque promo videos out for his weekender-ride.com event:

I'm temporarily hijacking this tread to reach out to members to complete the base training survey.

Wow, photo credit? It almost looks like a movie set or photoshoot.
I know I shouldn’t of , but I had to laugh, some guy sped past me on his no brake fixie down the Manhattan bridge this morning , as he went through the bend at the end , I thought , he’s taking that very fast , as I came round to the bottom he struggled to negotiate a woman waiting for the light and ended up in a heap , he was fine but sheepishly got up and walked away

it was not this guy

^laugh Mark. Laugh from your belly until your eyes water and you can't catch your breath. Goodness knows we all need it.
Enjoyed this very much...

Also, enjoyed this very much, the banter between White and Powers is fun and makes me miss Cyclocross.

JPow has been making good content for them! Really enjoyed his recent tour of Massachusetts vid too. I have serious deja vu watching that cheap cross bike series, including when he was surprised by how the lower end canti brakes performed compared to the discs he's used to.
this makes me think we should have a socially distant cx skillz competition soon

JPow hasn’t been on the top step in 5+ years but he’a still taking them all to school with media savvy and personality.
love this one too, but held back, haha... Wachuset has been in the radar as one of the hills to check out soon.

David - I think I remember standing on the sidewalk outside my house trying to fit an old Ritchie Speedmax between the chainstays of some frankenrig you were trying to create.
Sean Kelly swearing at the start of the video was great

LOL and Ragot at Cunningham staring at the brakeless front wheel due to clearance issues and thoughtfully commenting, "You don't need brakes, they just slow you down."
