Now I know Battenkill really did happen

Pictures!

Spotted a copy of Chalet, a new artsy cycling magazine (think Rouleur on crack) in my local hipster coffee joint yesterday. The first issue is all about racing in NY. It had a long article on Floyd Bennett Field (by Brit cycling journo Matt Seaton) which featured a pic of a Kissena. Whoever in the club has extensive back tats, you're famous, woo! ;-)

i think Vlad has made several mistakes on his back . . .
Perhaps, but I certainly haven't made any mistakes on your mom's back William.

Europcar is the most diverse team among the pros and I admire them for that fact.
i loved that stage

dude pushed it hard up some visibly STEEP hills and his attack at 200m to go was great: "ok let's see imma put it in my 34/28 and SPRINT!!!!"
love the turkish commentary
Is that a panda on the red flag that waving in the breeze? Also I'm jealous of that guy's tan.

I believe it's Ataturk on the flag.  you might need to ride more mid-day to get to his level of bronzing.
before you guys hit the tanning salon in hopes of pulling a reverse michael jackson, know that bulhane is eritrean

Crosspost:  Bicycles of Africa - shots of the whips I saw on a recent 2-week work trip to Malawi and Zambia.

thanks, dstearns.  that reminds me.  i lived in cairo for a year and saw these guys all the time.  amazing.  sometimes it would be young kids too.  the child labor aspect was discouraging, but the skill was impressive.  the best part was watching them come to a stop or navigate traffic.

That picture is amazing Brendan.  I can tell you from experience, riding in flip flops is no joke.  Challenging to say the least!
New category for Charlie's races, perhaps?
Here is one straight outta LeMond's book - looks like Sagan has been doing his homework!

Imitating a multi-time match sprint world champ who played around after the medal ceremony?  Don't know about that.  Robbie McEwen was known for pulling wheelies when coming in with the grupetto on mountain stages.
