This link is mostly for Jules who is the team's GoPro expert (p.s. any good shots of Johnny Wrongway during his slaughter of the Somerville cat 3 primes?). It's Dirtwire's Thom Parsons talking camera set up and more. He appears to have a "chest mount" of some sort that gives the viewer a good angle, without being dizzying.

P.S. I still think it would be worth looking into getting him to cover Supercross 2013. Especially if we get Myerson and a bunch of other New England pros to show again...

Thanks Marc. Harry Z from 9W magazine rocks that chest mount sometimes. I actually have video from almost all of my CX races last fall; but at about 35 minutes each and only a couple of spills; they aren't really that interesting - holler if you want me to upload them somewhere - I think Vimeo maxes out at 15 minutes though so I'll have to split them.

I don't know if any of you were watching the live streaming of Philly...but it was TERRIBLE. The announcer would say a few things, disappear for literally many many minutes, total silence as we watch footage from the one moto camera who was always on the back of the break. Not to mention frozen buffering images every 3-7 seconds. And then the final time up the wall, someone wisely suggested to moto guy that he ride in front of the field...except some goof ball official on a moto bike was shooing him away to the point where you couldn't actually see the guys hammer up the climb. At the last second, some genius decides to switch to a fixed camera just in time to see the winner throw his arms up over the line.
It's 2013, yo, I'm so beyond just being grateful that there is cycling on TV/internet. It's time to get to the front of the pack broadcasters, okay?

I tried watching it too but the video quality was horrendous and sometimes the commentary didn't match what I was seeing. It was like the two guys were seeing a different part of the race than what was being shown.
And the moto couldn't hold the camera stable. He kept filming the side mirror of the motorcycle.
Of course NBC Sports was delayed a week and showed the nationals. Seeing fast Freddie win is uncomfortable.

If you want a better perspective on what happened between Boyer and LeMond, read Slaying the Badger. Boyer hadn't been good to LeMond, and LeMond returned the favor. In addition, all the americans came to the world's on their own dime. And to make matters worse, the worlds were treated at the USPRO road championships.
What is left unwritten is why LeMond opted to chase Boyer. Saronni was so clearly the fastest, did LeMond think by going early he'd have his only chance at beating the Italian? The gap looks like it's about 5 sec at the finish. That's a big gap considering the short sprint of Saronni. What if LeMond had waited, wouldn't the Dutch or Italians, or maybe even Saronni have to do the closing?

so i have this gopro and i plan on recording every race i do.
i have footage from last night's race.
does the club have any input or preferences on what the video should contain or how i should post it? currently, it just has the name of the race, the date, the location, and the category visible for ten seconds. then it's just race footage. i was going to upload it to youtube on my personal account.
it takes a loooooooong time for me to encode 30 minutes of 1080p footage, so i won't likely alter this one. but in the future, what club-related copy would you have me include, and where? is there a KCC youtube account you'd rather use? i plan on making this a regular thing. even though people will find me hopelessly nerdy. i like watching videos of races when i'm doing the rollers. and i ran out of videos this winter.
i'll let you know when it's uploaded.

If you really want to get the word out either tweet it or post a link to the thread that has the substance in it.
In a perfect world it would be either easy or possible to merge the two afterwards; currently it is neither - through no fault of your own.

Tim rugg is the guy in the green jersey who tries bunny hopping the official. Dumb to have official there. Street needed barricades to deal with the two-way traffic on course.

That's Mengoni's Eugene Boronow that hits the official and almost gets run over. My guess is that this is one of those dog bone shaped crits.
