So I'm bust'n out some zone 6 intervals, watching Paris-Tours and am dumbfounded at the Cat 5 racing tactics and teamwork displayed by BMC and Giant Shimano to let Voekler and Wallays stay away to battle for the win. Wow. wow. wow.

Not as exciting as I had anticipated, but I got Googled. I was riding to work one fine morning, ran the Gauntlet that is known as Jay street and, thanking my stars to have made it across yet once again, was excited to open it up on the Manhattan bridge. But what do I find, a guy walking in the middle of the lane wearing a Robbie the Robot outfit.
I'm in my white and green Voler jersey, but am now rethinking the idea of wearing KCC kit to work because, well, Google.
The approach, in the fast lane, of course. (Still don't understand the reverse commute - really, you live in Manhattan and work in Brooklyn? You're doing it wrong.) Let's see if these links work.
Passing and thinking, it's the Google guy and he's walking on the bike side. WTF!
Passed, and a glorious day of work ahead of me.
Before I began riding to work, I also assumed the Manhattan bridge on the ride home would be a great way to decompress and shed the day. It is a good release, but only from the pressure of getting there along 2nd ave and then along the bomb-cratered road that is Chrystie street.

They hadn't mapped the bicycle path on the Manhattan bridge before, and I read it can take a couple of months for the images to get processed, so every now and again, I'd pull up a map looking over the bridge and click Yellow Man in the corner to see if the path turned blue. One day it finally did.
Having a job where I'm in front of computers all day also helps with these odd online checks (and finding great prices on bike parts).
fer instance, I just checked another, more popular spot, along 5th ave.
A few days after the bicycle picture. Beneath the scaffolding, blue shirt, slim-fit (ya, baby!) khakis, blue cap, white sneakers, walking toward you, thinking, really, again?

Everything stays blurred, though I believe the original images are kept by the NSA servers under project ECHELON. I had trouble recognizing myself. . .
Google updates their images constantly, so at some point, the ones on the bridge will get wiped out for new images, but by that time, it will be a double-wide path with retractable overhead roof, complimentary air hoses at either end, and heat or AC generated by a small tidal turbine in the East River.
