It might take a race or two, but you seem to have exactly the kind of grit and determination cyclocross rewards. Once you put it all together, It'll be amaze!!
Cyclocross!

That sprit is what makes CX the most awesomest. I can tell already you belong in the mud and cowbells. Get on whatever bike you can beg borrow or steal, and if it's a lemon then PIT THAT FUCKER on the first lap and have it with a neutral bike because #sneakyChristinaWoolston said:@eloy I'm considering Whirlybird despite my cross bike might not being in on time, it being the week after GMSR, and having never seen a cross race.

YES!ChristinaWoolston said:Bike ordered, will be in by the end of the week, in for Whirlybird! I'll probably be rocking 6 year old MTB shoes and egg beaters, but whatever works.
I was about to order some CX tires from Redbeard and we were wondering if anyone else wants to order tires right now for CX season. It is better for them to order more than just my lonely two tires at a time. I selected 2x33mm Vittoria Terreno Mix TNT tires. If interested reach out to Redbeard, they're hoping to have a couple other people order at the same time.
We'll be doing our annual cyclocross intro session and skills clinic this Sunday at Cunningham Park in Queens. Expect two-plus hours of sweltering fun running around like crazy people on grass with impractical bikes. Last year an ice cream truck came by and I got a vanilla soft serve with sprinkles. It was boss.
You will be trained by experts and can expect to come away with all you need to ace your first cross race of 2017 and a bruised inner thigh.
Check out the forum thread for chit chat and carpool info.

The turnout was lower than in prior years - probably due to the short notice and some members traveling. Eloy will host some CX practice session in PP this season.
If there is enough interest in having more practice at Cunningham (with barriers, cones, course tape and trail riding) we can set up another session. Maybe the weekend after Labor Day? Post your interest on this thread

The Kissena-RedBeard Fall Bulk tire order is coming!
Need tires for the Fall/Winter? RebBread and Kissena are organizing another bulk order. Get team pricing on any tires from Vittoria, Specialized, Challenge, Continental or Clement. Tubes also.
You can choose any tires you want from the above manufacturers. This is a good opportunity to get CX tires, but you can order any tires you may need (road, gravel, mountain, etc.).
Start making your list and place your order by September 10th. An order form will be posted soon. I'll send out an email when it gets posted.
How much will tires cost? You will get team pricing which is always a good discount compared to other shops. If RB get lots of orders for any specific tire they will work with the distributors to offer even better pricing. Ordering in bulk makes it easier for RedBeard to meet our needs and pass on savings.
As always, remember to support the shop that supports our club.

USAC Cyclocross Beginner Race Program
https://www.bikereg.com/cyclocross-beginner-race-programThis clinic is fairly close in West Mildford, NJ on Sept 9th. Designed for Cat 5 riders but anyone is welcomed. You'll even get a couple of points towards your Cat 4 upgrade and a discount on Bubble Cross later in the year.
Thanks for sharing this. I've never ridden cyclocross and this seems like a good place to start. Do you have any recommendations for tires for this course?
Thanks,
Bobby
