Mountain Biking

Pinned on a number today for the Chequamegon 30 the “baby” race. Both 70 and 100 miles seemed pretty absurd to me. After a 9 hour training week it was a last minute impulse race.

Out of a field of 20 or so I managed 7th, and am now in my fourth hour of lying prone. So much tired. The kJ really fail to capture the fatigue.

looked sharp in KCC kit but sadly - oh so so sadly - no photos!
Lewis Morrise race. Got 10th again. Was tired from yesterday's CP race otherwise I think I could've done better. Legs were not fresh and the first 2 miles were all going up. Ugh. The trail wasn't too technical.

Phil, when’s your next one, I’d like to do another
@Mark Taylor I'll have to check bikereg. I'll let you know. But missed you out there today
Nice work Phil!
Looks like my next race:

The 24th Annual Bulldog Rump presented by Cycle Craft

@Phil Maronilla
1lap or 2?
i have nothing to prove.. 1 lap. haha
Nice couple of hours at Cunningham , crazy overgrown , made the trails feel brand new and way more challenging not knowing what’s coming up ahead
Got 7th in today's Bulldog Rump at Kittatinny Valley State park. Cat 3 45+

The trail was the most technical I've raced this season. Lots of sharp, slick rock gardens and roots. Short steep uphill and downhills were littered with rocks. Definitely challenged by handling skills. Made a few mistakes including picking bad lines, nearly hitting a tree, clipping my pedals and almost going over the handlebars, missing a turn (tape was down) and losing one place. More bruises today than usual but at least nothing broken.

I hope everyone else had a fun Sunday morning as well!
BOOM!
Nice job Phil. Sorry I missed it.
As the road season winds down, does anyone want to plan a mountain bike trip to wonderful Charlemont, MA. The Thunder Mountain Bike Park is top notch from the looks of it, and the area around it is so dope. I was hoping to plan on getting up there some time either September to October.

The pass for DH is $47 for the day and if you don't have a bike the rentals start around $65ish. The area is also great for Gravel and Road Rides as well. Let me know if there is some interest in this and I can start fleshing out the full details.

Here is a link to the website:

@cpulvidente I'm very down
@cpulvidente I'm very down
Im thinking of planning this idea maybe late September? The airBnBs are next to nothing for that area, something like $20 a night.

If anyone is enticed enough for some DH, the beer in that area is even better. The mountain also has a sweet bar with $1 Schaefers.

I never been mountain biking in Charlemont, but the glades I would ski in the winter show a lot of promise. The trails look technical, fast, flowy, and fun.
@cpulvidente & @Nathaniel Picard Busky
count me in for late September / October. Heard only great things about Thunder Mountain. Airbnb and beer are also enticing.

I found this airBnB which is on the road next to the Mountain. It would be $240 for Friday and Saturday night. Looks like a sweet spot for some outdoor grilling and stuff. It fits 6 people, so we have space for some more people.
@cpulvidente
Digging the camping vibes.  Obviously can't beat the price.  Will have to find a few nearby rivers to jump in and properly wash off.  I'm free the last two weekends in September
A little love from DLH (his comment that he rode "Most of what there is" is compete BS though - there is 100 miles of connected trails inside the city limits, the offshoots are easilly double that. He probably is talking about Spirit Mtn and the downhill park)

Thanks @Mark Taylor. I plan on bringing my older son.
I'm planning on taking the Metro North north on Sunday for some riding if anyone would like to join. I'm currently trying to decide between Blue Mountain and Graham Hills.
@Nathaniel Picard Busky Could be convinced on Sunday depending on the time
@cpulvidente any time ya want big guy
Did some solo exploring at Graham Hills yesterday. Super nice singletrack, some tech-y sections, some flow-y sections, some uphills and downhills, and a crazy dirt jump/pump track area that I was too apprehensive to really get much use out of. Way less annoyingly technical than Blue Mountain and better marked. For a 40-50 minute train ride out of the city and a 10 minute cruise to the trailhead, the mileage you can get in is astounding. The locals were also incredibly nice and helpful and let me join in on a couple laps of some of their favorite trails. Attached is a wonderful picture of my lunch break:
