Fun times were had, This is how pro we are

Any good MTB trails near to massapequa ny?
@Mark Taylor sorta. I’ve used a bunch of the trails around there for running, but that’s what they’re intended for - running/walking. On the other hand there’s a two lane paved trail that leads to Bethpage State park, which has some cool trails.
Thanks, seems like I have a long enough gap between my sons two games that I can make stillwell and back before the 2nd game🔥
Greenbelt trail just south of Stillwell. It's out and back though with a few street crossings.
@Phil Maronilla its a dirt trail? crossbike ?
I'm hoping to be able to put together some trips with @RobertPeras to MVH (Manorville Hills.) I really like that trail, and its CX bike friendly. It has a couple of spots that can be better on an MTB but if one is careful it's not a big deal. Also in the colder months less worry about ticks and such, or oppressive heat and humidity. I need to get the brakes on my CX bike fixed once again, hopefully in a week or so she will be ready to go.
@Mark Taylor The closer you get to Stillwell, the more technical it gets so an mtb would be better and more enjoyable. I would say once you go cross the LIE going north it gets more technical. South of that, a cross bike would be fine. I would start from Bethpage State Park and go north.

My folks live right by Manorville Hills! Theres some real up and down trails in there. I'm not sure if bikes are allowed, but there is an almost complete singletrack trail that goes from Rocky Point MTB trails, through manorville, all the way to Montauk. There are a few road sections, but I think its about 110ish miles? Its called the Paumanok Path. Could make for a fun adventure!

There is an MTB trail in Manorville, been there, even raced there. It looks like climbonline.org is offline... but https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-york/manorville-hills-mtb-trail shows you a bit... Yes definitely some climbing hence why the cx bike is preferred since it's lighter.

Sorry, my paragraph wasn't clear! I meant I'm not sure if mtb is allowed on the paumanok path! The Manorville Hills trails are super fun and p well maintained by CLIMB.
Heading to Hartshorne NJ in the morning. Leaving Brooklyn at 6:30 if anyone wants to join.
This Sunday looks to be relatively warm and non-rainy, anyone up for a rip? Location up to suggestion.
Unfortunately Sunday is a no go for me. I'm going to shoot for Saturday if things look dry enough.
@jim_nelson I’m available Saturday too so if it’s dry enough I’m in for both days
It's not looking good for Saturday.... :anguished:

I'm down for either day, if i shake off this cold ,
light rain may mean Still well or glacier ridge , they seem to drain pretty well
It was great I was able to catch up with Jim et  al this morning at Glacier Ridge (albeit towards the end of the ride). Also saw deer which was awesome.

Headed to Stillwell after to meet my friend for a quick loop. It was so much wetter and muddier than Glacier this morning. I'd say most of the trail was either damp or muddy or having standing water. Probably should have avoided riding there at all.
Weather looking good on Saturday. I am thinking of hitting up Manorville Hills on the CX bike. I asked @RobertPeras if he wants to come out on his CX bike...
Going to hit Glacier tomorrow morning. Plan on leaving Brooklyn at 6:30 and should be there by about 7:30 if anyone wants to join.
Thinking about doing this race next Saturday - anyone interested?

I'm in .....if we can get out of Dodge at that point
I'm going to wait for something a little closer.
Found this today at Trailview state park. You can go north rom here to Stillwell or south to Greenbelt trail. Also he parking lot is full. Everyone's out riding . Saw a Dave Jordan and e2value guys on the trail too.
I thought about mountain biking as perfect isolated exercise
but then remembered last time I went , I crashed , motionless , while waiting for @jim_nelson pee😁
Still pretty isolated in the woods but I've never seen so many people on the trail today.
Were those trails real muddy? Last time I was there, there were some real peanutbuttery sections
