I don't pretend objectivity but he seemed genuinely contrite about that, and has been a pretty stand up guy ever since. He loses with dignity and when he wins he's not a dick about it. I've moved past it.

btw, something somewhat similar happened in the men's race, Mike Woods sure decided he was gonna race his bike, and clearly did the bulk of the work on that front group. Didn't pay up with a win, but 5th is better than 18ish, and sure was awesome fun to see.

Also, sidenote, Carapaz attack and that full moment when that little group got a gap, and how Carapaz took advantage, was so pro. Then of course, he got relegated for doing the supertuck for about 3 seconds...

I'd love to see Woods win but he can't seem to shake his runner's instinct of "go to the front and pedal hard"...

Easy for me to write, but I think he needs to attack more and pull through less.  

Was surprised that Gaudu didn't put in an attack at 1k.  Third was a good result, but little better than 5th and much worse than first.

Gaudu , kind of tried and then Alaphilpe looked around just as he was about to launch ,so he lost the element of surprise

Agreed on Woods; I don't know if he can't, won't or doesn't have the lust for victory...

As for Gaudu; I thought his sprint was the most beautifully ugly thing I've seen in ages. He looked like a camel humping a canoe in that sprint, but it made it onto the podium. I thought for sure it was going to be Pogacar/Alaphillipe in the first two, Woods or Valverde in the next two and Gaudu dead last. 

I think we need to give Woods way more credit. This is what racing hard looks like for him, not sure what the alternative was, almost anything else would have netted him a 10 to 20th finish.

Maybe, yeah, he needs to come up with something in order to win. He'll crack it. Also, wink wink, I have a theory as to what might be going on, ask me next time we ride together.

This was a strange one because its hard to tell in the clip if his butt ever loses contact with the saddle. I dont think he actually sat on the top tube even though he definitely put his chest close to his stem. I'm sure the rule has a concrete line between OK and NOT OK in there but I'm not sure what it is exactly. 

I'm confused as to why anyone argues this, he supertucked, which is illegal. So he got DQ'd.

I argue it because it is a pretty big deal when a big named rider gets disqualified from a race for doing something that had close to zero effect on the race or safety lol. If the rule is that you can’t sit on your top tube and Carapaz got into a tucked position without sitting on the top tube, he shouldn’t be disqualified. But obv I wasn’t there, only basing this off the very very short video.
