Not much for a bit; JP got into an early break and I found myself following one, two, three, four? bridge attempts.  Each time they'd look for me to pull through, realize I was just sitting on and more or less give up.  With each attack though the gap would come down a bit and by the fifth (?) time they were close enough to call the break "over."

Three non-threatening guys got off the front after that and the pack let them get a bit of a gap.  I moved toward the front at the beginning of the bell lap for the first Sprint (Green) 

By the top of the uphill JP was next to me and asking "can you do a little tempo and bring them back?"

I thought he'd never ask.

Cue my inner "Chariots of Fire" soundtrack but to be honest it wasn't that big an effort.  I think the three ahead knew what was in store for them.

JP & I took turns and with help from Lenny and a monster second-to-last pull by Stokes we drove the line all the way to the dropoff for John.

Second Verse, Same as the First...

This time it was me & Patrick G driving the leadout - I kept waiting for the swarm but it didn't come and as I pulled off I saw John moving through the "lead four" scrum with an incredible amount of patience.

That was it.  John had all the points he needed (or that I could help with) and with one to go we were all together and everyone was feeling fine.  I'd given one last bash with two to go (no dice) and I figured that the current scenario was a formula for a final-lap-crash so I sat up, and rolled over to watch the finish.  Sure enough, I missed a crash on the downhill.
